If the mission in Afghanistan is two-fold, the defeat of the abysmal Taliban and the creation of a stable, democratic state, it would appear that we are not doing well.


The same could be said of "nation building" in Iraq. The true measure of our efforts in both beneficiary countries should be based upon an examination of the foundations of these countries that we have created with the blood of our best and treasure. When such an examination is made the result can only be horror.


The constitutions of Iraq and Afghanistan for those who love democracy, freedom, and liberty, are failures. If the constitution of a new nation is a failure, what kind of nation can be built then upon it?

IPCC: International Pack of Climate Crooks

Unquestionably the world’s final authority on the subject, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's findings and recommendations have formed the bedrock of literally every climate-related initiative worldwide for more than a decade. Likewise, virtually all such future endeavors -- be they Kyoto II, domestic cap-and-tax, or EPA carbon regulation, would inexorably be built upon the credibility of the same U.N. panel's "expert" counsel. But a glut of ongoing recent discoveries of systemic fraud has rocked that foundation, and the entire man-made global warming house of cards is now teetering on the verge of complete collapse.

Simply stated, we've been swindled. We've been set up as marks by a gang of opportunistic hucksters who have exploited the naïvely altruistic intentions of the environmental movement in an effort to control international energy consumption while redistributing global wealth and (in many cases) greedily lining their own pockets in the process.

Perhaps now, more people will finally understand what many have known for years: Man-made climate change was never really a problem -- but rather, a solution.

For just as the science of the IPCC has been exposed as fraudulent, so have its apparent motives. The true ones became strikingly evident when the negotiating text for the "last chance to save the planet" International Climate Accord [PDF], put forth in Copenhagen in December, was found to contain as many paragraphs outlining the payment of "climate debt" reparations by Western nations under the watchful eye of a U.N.-controlled global government as it did emission reduction schemes.

Then again, neither stratagem should come as any real surprise to those who've paid attention. Here's a recap for those who have, and a long-overdue wake-up call for those who haven't.

An Unprecedented Interview Appears in a Leading Egyptian Newspaper

This week, an amazing and unprecedented interview will appear in the Egyptian newspaper, Almasry Alyoum. It is one of the leading Cairo newspapers, and has an average readership of 200,000 people. What the paper features is an interview with Jeffrey Herf, the University of Maryland historian, about his new and important book, Nazi Propaganda for the Arab World, published by Yale University Press.

The interview has already appeared online in English. Given the almost constant barrage of anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic propaganda throughout the Arab world, the Herf interview comes as a fresh antidote that will undoubtedly shock many Egyptians and cause great consternation. As the interviewer says to Herf, “Most Arab historians agree that the Nazis did not contribute great ideas that grew in the region, but you posit the opposite.” Herf tells him:

The absurd and false notion that an international Jewish conspiracy existed and was a major force in world politics was a key theme of Nazism’s wartime propaganda. Conspiratorial thinking focused on the supposed power of the Jews persisted after the war in the Middle East. The pejorative and hateful depictions of Jews in Nazi propaganda, the belief that they were inherently evil and that they should be punished as a result found echoes in the postwar publications of the Muslim Brotherhood, the writings of Sayyid Qutb, the postwar activities of Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Egyptian government’s propaganda under Nasser and in the Hamas Covenant of 1988.

Obama was elected to universal Hosannas because he is black. It wasn't a secret. That's why the Left around the world went into ecstasies when Obama ran and got elected.

We've been using affirmative action to hire and promote teachers and cops and to popularize movie stars and media heroes. We've had a generation of affirmative action agitprop, 24/7/365. Hillary Clinton was going to dictate racial and gender preferences for medical school admissions under HillaryCare. You can bet that reverse-racism is all over the 2,200 pages of ObamaCare. It's reverse-racism forever!

POWNED ondermijnt Geen Stijl

Mijn vorige column, naar aanleiding van de opvallend negatieve reportage van GS TV starlet Rutger Castricum, deed nogal wat stof opwaaien en werd dan ook ruim 9000 keer gelezen in 2 dagen tijd. Daarom een nadere beschouwing en een verslag van de wijze waarop Geen Stijl met de ontstane commotie omgaat.

In die vorige column maaakte ik bezwaar tegen de wijze waarop GeenStijl de demonstranten neerzette, die in Amsterdam aanwezig waren om te protesteren tegen de strafzaak van PVV frontman Wilders.
Jeroen Pauw vatte de indruk die gewekt werd door de toekomstige POWNED redacteur Castricum perfect samen: "dat is toch een stelletje malloten?" Ik betoogde dat een fiks deel van de doelgroep van GS en POWNED not amused zou zijn met deze move van GS, omdat GS zich door dit filmpje de verdenking op de hals haalt helemaal niet anti-establishment te zijn. Precies de reden waarom veel POWNED leden hun steun aan de aspirant omroep gunden.

Climategate: The Wheels Come Off for the IPCC

The IPCC’s problem is that it wasn’t the last issue. One of the effects of the Climategate files has been that a lot of complaints that had been dismissed by the scientific world and the world at large as unbelievable and perhaps even a little paranoid turned out to be true. Some of those complaints had to be taken seriously, and the IPCC’s reports had to be re-evaluated.

One question was whether anthropogenic global warming (AGW) was causing more violent storms and more storm damage. This had been received wisdom in the AR4 report; Time connected AGW to the damage from Katrina in 2005, and similar things were reported throughout the mainstream media.

Update: Glacier scientist: I knew data hadn't been verified

The scientist behind the bogus claim in a Nobel Prize-winning UN report that Himalayan glaciers will have melted by 2035 last night admitted it was included purely to put political pressure on world leaders.
Dr Murari Lal also said he was well aware the statement, in the 2007 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), did not rest on peer-reviewed scientific research.
In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, Dr Lal, the co-ordinating lead author of the report’s chapter on Asia, said: ‘It related to several countries in this region and their water sources. We thought that if we can highlight it, it will impact policy-makers and politicians and encourage them to take some concrete action.

"Joden moesten periodiek worden afgeslacht"

Dat is wat Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, de vroegere, democratisch gekozen premier van Maleisië op een islamitische conferentie in Kuala Lumpur over de joden te zeggen had. Volgens de Australische journalist Andrew Bolt verwachtte hij dat zijn publiek “het eens zou zijn met zijn zienswijze”.

De vroegere premier uitte zijn teleurstelling over het feit dat de Amerikaanse president nog geen einde heeft gemaakt aan de oorlog in Afghanistan en ook de Guantanamo-gevangenis nog niet heeft gesloten. Hij zei:

“er zijn machten in de Verenigde Staten die de president beletten sommige dingen te doen. Eén van die machten is de joodse lobby."

Joden “waren altijd al een probleem in Europese landen. Ze moesten worden opgesloten in getto’s en periodiek worden afgeslacht. Maar toch bleven ze bestaan, ze gedijden en dwongen hele regeringen te doen wat ze wilden.”

“Zelfs nadat ze door de nazi’s van Duitsland waren afgeslacht, overleefden ze om een bron van nog grotere problemen voor de wereld te worden.”

Dr. Mahathir was premier van Maleisië van 1981 – 2003. Het land is multicultureel, relatief welvarend, technisch geavanceerd en wordt door het Westen beschouwd als gematigd islamitisch. Wanneer de vroegere premier van een dergelijk land openlijk en ongestraft het afslachten van joden, zo niet goedkeurt, dan wel neerzet als vanzelfsprekend en onvermijdelijk, dan kunnen we redelijkerwijs aannemen dat deze zienswijze gangbaar is onder de ongeveer een miljard moslims op de wereld. Niet echt verbazingwekkend trouwens, als je de “heilige” geschriften van het mohammedanisme er op naslaat…

Volgens een jaarlijks rapport van de Jewish Agency heeft het antisemitisme wereldwijd het hoogste peil ooit bereikt sinds de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Destijds, toen de nazi’s zich tegen de joden keerden, stond de hele wereld erbij en keek ernaar. Staan we toe dat de geschiedenis zich gaat herhalen?

Geen Stijl, Quo Vadis ?

Sinds het vertrek van anchorman Dominique Weesie lijkt Geen Stijl de weg kwijt te zijn. De manipulatieve reportage van GS TV man Rutger Castricum over de demonstratie bij het proces tegen Geert Wilders was het voorlopige dieptepunt. Was dit een uitglijder of is er meer aan de hand met Geen Stijl en dus ook haar zusje POWNED. Verontrustende overpeinzingen.

Woensdag plaatste Geen Stijl (GS) een reportage van haar redacteur Rutger Castricum op de site. Castricum was afgereisd naar het gerechtsgebouw in Amsterdam om verslag te doen van de demonstratie voor de rechtbank, waar de strafzaak tegen PVV voorman Geert Wilders diende. Tot schrik en verdriet van vele mensen die aanwezig waren produceerde Castricum een gedrocht van een reportage, waarbij hij uiterst selectief mensen uitkoos om te interviewen. Het beeld dat hij wilde laten zien was dat van een bende domme schreeuwers. Een bevestiging dus van het beeld dat in de gewone media en in debatten vaak opgeroepen wordt over mensen die PVV stemmen. Een formule die het steeds minder goed doet, maar nog steeds als argument ingebracht wordt in de discussie over de (zelf)islamisering. En dat pad gaat GS dus ook op, getuige de reportage van Castricum.

Goed gezegd, Bottehond! Zelf ben ik ook lid geworden van POWNED in de hoop eens iets anders op tv te zien dan het gebruikelijke linkse gewauwel. De reportage van Rutger Castricum over de Wilders demonstratie was dan ook een ontluisterende ervaring. GeenStijl, POWNED, en niet in de laatste plaats Rutger Castricum zouden er goed aan doen te onthouden dat "ontvrienden" het woord van het jaar 2009 was. Een lidmaatschap is zó opgezegd...

Just months after the Climategate scandal broke, a new study has uncovered compelling evidence that our government's principal climate centers have also been manipulating worldwide temperature data in order to fraudulently advance the global warming political agenda.

Not only does the preliminary report [PDF]indict a broader network of conspirators, it challenges the very mechanism by which global temperatures are measured, published, and historically ranked.

Last Thursday, Certified Consulting Meteorologist Joseph D’Aleo and computer expert E. Michael Smith appeared together on KUSI TV [Video] to discuss the Climategate -- American Style scandal they had discovered. This time out, the alleged perpetrators are the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS).

Stel je voor! Op die zetel zat gedurende 47 jaar, de icoon van de linkse Democratische politiek: Ted Kennedy. Het volk van Massachusetts heeft gesproken. It's telling that 47 years ago, when Reverend King made his great speech on the Washington Mall, he did not say that he had a dream that one day, an African American would become president. King's vision on August 28, 1963 was less ambitious:


I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Even so, Barack Obama was elected president based on the color of his skin. African Americans on the night of November 4, 2008 wept with joy because one of their own had become president, against all that they had been told and feared about a racist America. Liberals rejoiced because of the "first," that America had answered the question: Was it ready for a black president?

This topic may infuriate many of my fellow blacks. I am talking about black monolithic thinking and black racism.

Black actor Michael Clarke Duncan is probably best known for his brilliant performance in the movie The Green Mile. I watched a Steve Harvey special on BET (Black Entertainment Television). Harvey was on stage in a hall filled with a mostly black audience. He criticized Duncan for playing an ape in the 2001 Planet of the Apes movie. Harvey said that Duncan playing an ape would set blacks back many years. He said he asked Duncan, "How much are they paying you to play an ape?" The black audience enthusiastically agreed with Harvey. Harvey even said that when Duncan appeared on his radio show, several black callers pressured him to chastise Duncan for accepting the role.

Am I crazy, or is Harvey's and his audience's problem with Duncan playing an ape absurd? White and black actors played apes in the movie. Once in full ape makeup, it is impossible to distinguish who is black or white. How is Duncan harming or betraying his race?

In typical "groupthink" fashion instilled in the black community by their black liberal plantation overseers and Democrats over the years, the independent-minded black actor was expected to turn down a role in a major motion picture to appease an erroneous perception.

Antarctica and the Myth of Deadly Rising Seas

On Monday, scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute reported that they'd measured sea temperatures beneath an East Antarctic ice shelf and found no signs of warming whatsoever. And while the discovery's corollaries remain mostly blurred by the few rogue mainstream media outlets actually reporting it, the findings are in fact yet another serious blow to the sky-is-falling-because-oceans-are-rising prophecies of the climate alarm crowd.

For years now, alarmists have insisted that Antarctica is thawing thanks to man-made global warming. They warn that such melting of a frozen continent containing 90 percent of all the ice on the planet would inevitably lead to a cataclysmic sea level rise (SLR). Scary stuff, indeed.

However, there are several problems with their assertions, not the least of which is that all evidence of melting selectively focuses on the only area of the continent satellite evidence confirms is warming -- the western region in general, and the Antarctic Peninsula in particular.

Op woensdagmiddag vond een spoeddebat in de Tweede Kamer plaats over het klimaatbeleid, waarin de VVD (Helma Neppérus) en de PVV (Richard de Mos) ondermeer aandrongen op een onderzoek naar Climategate. In reactie hierop stelde minister Cramer voor om eerst het Climategate–onderzoek in Engeland onder leiding van Sir Muir Russel (een voormalig hoge ambtenaar, waardoor enige reserve over diens onpartijdigheid voorshands gerechtvaardigd lijkt) af te wachten en dan te bezien of er nader onderzoek in Nederland noodzakelijk zou zijn. Hiermee stemden de initiatiefnemers van het onderzoeksvoorstel in. Voor meer informatie over het spoeddebat zie hier en hier.

Tijdens het debat werd door verschillende deelnemers verwezen naar een aantal wijdverbreide mythes, als argumenten ten gunste van een actief klimaatbeleid. Deze zijn door de jaren heen op effectieve wijze door de klimaatpropagandamachine verspreid en worden thans in de klimaatdiscussie voortdurend gerecycled als de ultieme waarheid. Ten onrechte!

Ik pik er een paar uit.

• (Bijna) alle wetenschappers zijn het over eens dat de aarde opwarmt en dat dat voornamelijk door de mens wordt veroorzaakt.

• Een variant op bovenstaand argument is dat alle 4.000 wetenschappers betrokken bij het IPCC het er over eens zijn dat de aarde opwarmt en dat dit hoofdzakelijk door de mens komt.

• Het IPCC heeft het wetenschappelijk beschikbare materiaal op serieuze wijze afgewogen en heeft daarbij ook de opvattingen van klimaatsceptici betrokken. Het proces is een toonbeeld van zorgvuldigheid en transparantie.

• Net als bij een brandverzekering op een huis, is het ook verstandig om je te verzekeren tegen de opwarming van de aarde door preventieve maatregelen te nemen.

• Er bestaat geen zekerheid over een catastrofale opwarming maar we moeten op grond van het voorzorgsbeginsel toch maatregelen nemen.

• Ons duurzame energiebeleid leidt tot een versterking van onze economie en tot grotere onafhankelijkheid van leveranciers van fossiele brandstoffen.

Bij kritische toetsing blijkt echter geen van deze argumenten stand te houden.

Where is Barack Obama’s foreign policy headed? In answering, one must accept a measure of humility. Predicting American policy makes more fools than sages. That goes double for foreign policy, as analysts must anticipate not only the actions of the United States but of foreign provocateurs as well.

In the case of Barack Obama, there is an additional caveat: the high-profile concerns that have monopolized his efforts abroad are seen by the president himself as little more than Bush-era loose ends, not the defining transactions of his own foreign policy. All new presidents encounter irritating constraints on their aspirations, but Obama is more irritated than most at having to endure any sense of continuity with his predecessor. His criticism of Bush continues unabated even as he fares no better in the same stubborn terrain.

Obama is not looking to build his foreign-policy legacy on top of disputes that predate his arrival. He is working to move past these, toward the day when he can implement his own foreign policy and national-security agendas. Accordingly, the best way to predict Obama’s foreign policy in the next three years lies not in examining how he deals with the accumulated baggage of Iraq, Afghanistan, Middle East peace, and the Iranian and North Korean nuclear programs. Important as those are, they constitute what Obama has had to confront. We should ask instead what he will attempt to establish once he has become less encumbered by the inherited issues. Here, the record shows three critical characteristics.

Vorig jaar heeft het Amerikaanse blog Gates of Vienna een artikel gewijd aan de Deense psycholoog Nicolai Sennels, die tot 2008 verbonden was aan de gesloten jeugdinrichting Sønderbro in Kopenhagen. In de tussentijd heeft hij een boek geschreven, Blandt Kriminelle Muslimer ("Tussen Criminele Moslims"), over zijn ervaringen in het omgaan met jonge moslimcriminelen in het Deense justitiële systeem.

Volgens de wetenschapper Sennels blijkt dat "appeasement" naar moslims toe — ofwel het alsmaar verder toegeven, inschikken en ook het debat de kop indrukken (met bijvoorbeeld de vervolging van islam-critici) zoals dat tot nu toe het motto is in de Nederlandse politiek (op een enkele uitzondering na) — de criminaliteit van moslimjongeren juist steeds verder versterkt. Onlangs werd Nicolai Sennels geïnterviewd door het Finse Homma Forum over "culturele verrijking" en "kansenjongeren" in Denemarken en andere delen van Europa. The adjectival palette has been much in use this last year or so in the stanchless commentary respecting Barack Obama and his meteoric rise to prominence. He is eulogized by many as America’s bel canto president, supposedly the most eloquent occupant of the Oval Office in living memory. Not only is he mellifluous; he is energetic, determined, and far-seeing. He is young and handsome. He is “smart.” He is a noble advocate of “social justice.” He is “the One.” He is “sort of god.” The fake classical columns flanking Obama during his acceptance speech at Invesco Stadium may have been a mistake but they were not an accident. An acquaintance of mine, in the midst of a discussion concerning the president’s bona fides, clinched the argument by pointing to the sky and exclaiming: “It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s Obamaman.” Obama’s own campaign has not been shy to hype the Superman comparison.

Dit zal een overwinning zijn van de krachten van democratie en moderniteit op de versteende en sadistische theocratie in Iran en wellicht het begin kunnen zijn van een totale omslag in het midden-Oosten. Er wordt hier een historische strijd gevoerd.

Barry Hussein took in nearly 15 million dollars in donations from securities and investments companies, and his first priority was to pay it back with a massive bailout that has exploded the deficit.

As the number one recipient of funds from securities and investments companies, Obama made sure they were paid off first. In exchange for a mere 14 million dollars, the industry received as much as a hundred thousand times that much from the government. And we aren't done yet. And that is even without counting Cap and Trade, a plan set to enrich certain key Wall Street backers of Obama and the Democratic party, at the expense of the last remaining shreds of America's manufacturing sector.

Almost a year has passed since January 20, 2009 -- when the waters of the ocean no longer rose and America began to heal from the depredations of Republicans. Barack Obama has been our president for that long, and the people have started to wise up.

The light that has shined on Barack Obama as president has reflected back an image that bears very little similarity to the iconic visage that floated above us all during 2008. Why has Barack Obama betrayed so many allies, broken so many promises, thrown so many pledges and people under the bus?

One simple aphorism (paraphrasing Winston Churchill) can explain it all. Barack Obama is no longer a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Much about his past remains murky, but faced with the need to govern, he has given the American people plenty of evidence of his nature, if only they will look.

There’s big money in climate.

That became strikingly obvious in Copenhagen. The conference itself cost in the neighborhood of $30 million, but that was only the visible tip of the melting iceberg. Add to that the celebrities, the demonstrators, the congressional delegations, and the corporate displays, and you can bet something closer to $60 million was really spent on the conference — along with, of course, a carbon footprint the size of Morocco’s. The one significant outcome of the Copenhagen conference was an agreement to continue the international market in carbon offset trading that would otherwise have expired in 2012 and to prevent a crash in the carbon credits market.

It appears that most of the participants saw the money spent as an investment.

To see why, we need to look at the way Kyoto has turned into cash for many of the biggest names in the climate change world, and to do that we need to understand how the whole carbon trading scheme works.

Merely dismissing the sign as, “cynical,” few understand the meaning of the sign in context and its underlying implications for Jewish thought and Israel today.

At the time--and this was very clear in Eastern European towns like that of my grandparents in Poland-- Jews were used by the Germans for forced labor. While many were involved in road repair (an extremely important task during the war when highways were heavily used by the Nazis for military purposes), tree cutting, or other manual labor, others labored in their usual professions.

The Germans, of course, wanted to win the war, which they were waging, despite their victories, against difficult odds. Even after the French were defeated and the British retreated across the Channel, the combat was ferocious against the Soviets and the United Kingdom fought on. In pragmatic terms, the Germans needed Jewish labor. After all, too, they could hardly be receiving it under better circumstances. The Jews were not paid for the work, they were denied consumer goods, and their food rations were minimal.

Reuters, for example, carried a moving account of the speech by Ian Fry, lead negotiator for Tuvalu, the beleaguered Pacific island nation soon to be under water because of a planet-devastating combination of your SUV and unsustainable bovine flatulence from Vermont farms. "The fate of my country rests in your hands," Fry told the meeting. "I make this as a strong and impassioned plea ... I woke this morning and I was crying and that was not easy for a grown man to admit," he continued, "his voice choking with emotion," in the Reuters reporter's words. Who could fail to be moved?

Volgens zijn buurvrouw woont hij al langer dan tien jaar in Queanbeyan waar hij zich opwerkte "naar een toppositie in de klimaatverandering".

The Climategate files were made public just a month ago, and the email messages that were revealed have already had real impact. The emails show us scientists being petty and political, even corrupt. Suppressing dissenting science and perhaps even violating the law to prevent data from being shared with the rest of the world. They show us people with failings, egos against egos. But the emails themselves aren’t enough to call the overall science of CO2-driven, human-caused climate change into question.

The Climategate emails, however, make up only five percent of the Climategate files. The other 95 percent, the programs and data and documents, are where the real story is hiding. That story has begun to come out, in several independent analyses of the data we have, using hints from the emails and from other files and raw data that is available from other sources.

A story is beginning to take shape. This story broke into the world media Wednesday. An article in RIA Novosti, the Russian state-owned news service, states:

Climategate just got much, much bigger. And all thanks to the Russians who, with perfect timing, dropped this bombshell just as the world’s leaders are gathering in Copenhagen to discuss ways of carbon-taxing us all back to the dark ages.

On Tuesday, we heard via the Ria Novosti agency that the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) issued a report claiming that the Hadley Center for Climate Change had probably tampered with Russian-climate data:


The IEA believes that Russian meteorological-station data did not substantiate the anthropogenic global-warming theory. Analysts say Russian meteorological stations cover most of the country’s territory, and that the Hadley Center had used data submitted by only 25% of such stations in its reports. Over 40% of Russian territory was not included in global-temperature calculations for some other reasons, rather than the lack of meteorological stations and observations.

The data of stations located in areas not listed in the Hadley Climate Research Unit Temperature UK (HadCRUT) survey often does not show any substantial warming in the late 20th century and the early 21st century.

The HadCRUT database includes specific stations providing incomplete data and highlighting the global-warming process, rather than stations facilitating uninterrupted observations. They concluded climatologists use the incomplete findings of meteorological stations far more often than those providing complete observations and data from stations located in large populated centers that are influenced by the urban-warming effect more frequently than the correct data of remote stations.

This animus flourishes outside America, but it also has a strong camp following in America.

Maar de 15.000 vergaderaars in het Bella Center in Kopenhagen laten zich niet meeslepen. Helder moeten ze blijven, hun koppie er bij houden, want deze bijeenkomst moeten er spijkers met koppen geslagen worden, of beter: zakken gevuld. Want het gaat in Kopenhagen om geld, heel veel geld. Geld dat uit de zakken van de burger moet worden gehaald en verplaatst naar de zakken van de ambtenaren, wetenschappers en bedrijven die van heinde en verre zijn gekomen om nu toch eindelijk te oogsten.

Ze weten dat het pandemonium buiten nergens over gaat - er is geen klimaatprobleem - maar ze weten ook: hoe meer angst onder de mensen, hoe meer lawaai op straat, des te groter hun perspectief op financieel gewin.

Valt er dan zoveel te halen? Jazeker, er staan hier honderden miljarden op het spel. Landen hopen op bedragen in de orde van miljarden en sommige individu's verwachten hier honderden miljoenen weg te slepen. De kleinere spelers hopen hier hun goede baan op de universiteit of bij de overheid te kunnen bestendigen. Dat klinkt bescheiden, maar als je een hypotheek en kinderen hebt is dat een prima motivatie om langdurig vol te houden dat ons een mega-klimaatprobleem te wachten staat.

Er zijn drie groepen van begunstigden te beneficiaries onderscheiden: de landen in de derde wereld, het groen-wetenschappelijk complex en de banken, 'Big Carbon'.

It’s been less than a month since the Climategate files were first disclosed, but they’ve already had a dramatic impact on the debate over climate change.

On the one hand is the dominant so-called consensus — that human emission of greenhouse gases has been the primary cause of an unprecedented warming of Earth’s climate. On the other hand, there has been an underground opposition trying to make itself heard. What the disclosure of the files did was demonstrate that these opposition voices had been suppressed unfairly and unscientifically.

As a result, the raw data that had been withheld is becoming available to outside researchers. This new openness is already having results.

What would have happened to that lovely Indian tradition of burning widows on their husband's funeral pyre if General Napier had not stood up for the superior and much more humane views of his own civilization and put an end to that barbaric custom?

He said:

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."

You can be sure that if he had defended the right of a woman to voluntarily immolate herself as a religious expression the practice would not have become outlawed and women would still be "voluntarily" climbing onto those funeral pyres today.

Backward, inhumane and discriminating customs have to be eradicated, whether they are based on religion or not, and whether the women concerned are "voluntarily" supporting it or not.

Oh, and by the way: the same goes for the niqaabs, hijabs, headscarves and other assorted islamic tools to oppress women. After all, the only difference is the amount of material used. The thought behind all that "religious clothing" is the same: If you don't cover the meat, the tomcat will come. And whatever happens afterward is never the fault of the tomcat.

You want to oppress your women? Go live somewhere else!

With the publication of damaging e-mails from a climate research center in Britain, the radical environmental movement appears to face a tipping point. The revelation of appalling actions by so-called climate change experts allows the American public to finally understand the concerns so many of us have articulated on this issue.

“Climate-gate,” as the e-mails and other documents from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia have become known, exposes a highly politicized scientific circle -- the same circle whose work underlies efforts at the Copenhagen climate change conference. The agenda-driven policies being pushed in Copenhagen won’t change the weather, but they would change our economy for the worse.

The e-mails reveal that leading climate “experts” deliberately destroyed records, manipulated data to “hide the decline” in global temperatures, and tried to silence their critics by preventing them from publishing in peer-reviewed journals. What’s more, the documents show that there was no real consensus even within the CRU crowd. Some scientists had strong doubts about the accuracy of estimates of temperatures from centuries ago, estimates used to back claims that more recent temperatures are rising at an alarming rate.

This scandal obviously calls into question the proposals being pushed in Copenhagen. I’ve always believed that policy should be based on sound science, not politics. As governor of Alaska, I took a stand against politicized science when I sued the federal government over its decision to list the polar bear as an endangered species despite the fact that the polar bear population had more than doubled. I got clobbered for my actions by radical environmentalists nationwide, but I stood by my view that adding a healthy species to the endangered list under the guise of “climate change impacts” was an abuse of the Endangered Species Act. This would have irreversibly hurt both Alaska’s economy and the nation’s, while also reducing opportunities for responsible development.

Our representatives in Copenhagen should remember that good environmental policymaking is about weighing real-world costs and benefits -- not pursuing a political agenda. That’s not to say I deny the reality of some changes in climate -- far from it. I saw the impact of changing weather patterns firsthand while serving as governor of our only Arctic state. I was one of the first governors to create a subcabinet to deal specifically with the issue and to recommend common-sense policies to respond to the coastal erosion, thawing permafrost and retreating sea ice that affect Alaska’s communities and infrastructure.

But while we recognize the occurrence of these natural, cyclical environmental trends, we can’t say with assurance that man’s activities cause weather changes. We can say, however, that any potential benefits of proposed emissions reduction policies are far outweighed by their economic costs. And those costs are real. Unlike the proposals China and India offered prior to Copenhagen -- which actually allow them to increase their emissions -- President Obama’s proposal calls for serious cuts in our own long-term carbon emissions. Meeting such targets would require Congress to pass its cap-and-tax plans, which will result in job losses and higher energy costs (as Obama admitted during the campaign). That’s not exactly what most Americans are hoping for these days. And as public opposition continues to stall Congress’s cap-and-tax legislation, Environmental Protection Agency bureaucrats plan to regulate carbon emissions themselves, doing an end run around the American people.

In fact, we’re not the only nation whose people are questioning climate change schemes. In the European Union, energy prices skyrocketed after it began a cap-and-tax program. Meanwhile, Australia’s Parliament recently defeated a cap-and-tax bill. Surely other nations will follow suit, particularly as the climate e-mail scandal continues to unfold.

In his inaugural address, President Obama declared his intention to “restore science to its rightful place.” But instead of staying home from Copenhagen and sending a message that the United States will not be a party to fraudulent scientific practices, the president has upped the ante. He plans to fly in at the climax of the conference in hopes of sealing a “deal.” Whatever deal he gets, it will be no deal for the American people. What Obama really hopes to bring home from Copenhagen is more pressure to pass the Democrats’ cap-and-tax proposal. This is a political move. The last thing America needs is misguided legislation that will raise taxes and cost jobs -- particularly when the push for such legislation rests on agenda-driven science.

Without trustworthy science and with so much at stake, Americans should be wary about what comes out of this politicized conference. The president should boycott Copenhagen.

The response to my op-ed by global warming alarmists has been interesting. Former Vice President Al Gore has called me a “denier” and informs us that climate change is “a principle in physics. It’s like gravity. It exists.”

Perhaps he’s right. Climate change is like gravity – a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it.

However, he’s wrong in calling me a “denier.” As I noted in my op-ed above and in my original Facebook post on Climategate, I have never denied the existence of climate change. I just don’t think we can primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes.

Former Vice President Gore also claimed today that the scientific community has worked on this issue for 20 years, and therefore it is settled science. Well, the Climategate scandal involves the leading experts in this field, and if Climategate is proof of the larger method used over the past 20 years, then Vice President Gore seriously needs to consider that their findings are flawed, falsified, or inconclusive.

In ons recente artikel over de “intellectuele klimaatverandering” in het debat over global warming in Australië noemden Tom Minchin en ik de sleutelrol die werd gespeeld door de geoloog Ian Plimer van de Universiteit van Adelaide. Plimers boek Heaven and Earth, dat nu te koop is in Amerika, is een gezaghebbende weerlegging van de bewering dat de mens global warming veroorzaakt, en het heeft eraan bijgedragen het tij van de publieke opinie in Australië te doen keren tegen de hysterie van de milieu-activisten.

Dit is van crucaal belang in Australië, een land dat 80% van zijn elektriciteit uit kolen opwekt en zou lijden onder een economische ramp onder welke versie van “cap and trade” energierantsoenering (invoering van plafond voor CO2-emissies en handel in emissierechten, CK) dan ook. Het is ook belangrijk voor ons in de VS, want het laat zien dat het wel degelijk mogelijk is om de alomtegenwoordige global warming propagandacampagne tegen te gaan.

De invloed van Plimers boek is vooral interessant omdat het geen lichte inleiding tot het onderwerp vormt. Het is een dik boek, tjokvol wetenschap. Plimers proza is zeer leesbaar, maar het omvat zoveel details dat het moeilijk is om het allemaal op te nemen. Maar dat is ook voor een deel de bedoeling van het boek. Het is niet zozeer een inleiding voor beginners maar veeleer een uitgebreid naslagwerk, met hoofdstukken die zijn gerankschikt rond het beantwoorden van alle vragen die een intelligente leek zou kunnen hebben over de factoren die ons klimaat beïnvloeden, onder koppen als “Geschiedenis” (van perioden met opwarming en afkoeling), “De zon”, “aarde”, “ijs”, “water” en “lucht”. Dat het boek zo enorm uitgebreid is in de thema’s die het belicht, komt doordat alles wat de wetenschap heeft ontdekt over “geschiedenis, archeologie, geologie, astronomie, oceaanwetenschappen, atmosferische wetenschappen, en de life sciences” – Plimers lijst – het dogma van global warming weerlegt.

Tom en ik correspondeerden onlangs met professor Plimer en stelden hem enkele vragen over zijn boek, wat het bewijsmateriaal ons nou echt vertelt over het klimaat en over de politieke en culturele aspecten van het debat over global warming. Zijn antwoord valt, net als zijn boek, op door een soort weerspannige onafhankelijkheid, een onderdeel van de Australische inborst die met name zijn weerklank vindt in het Amerikaanse levensgevoel (sense of life).

If you ever picked up a copy of Newsweek, shop for groceries or attend a local elementary school-- you probably already know that Global Warming (peal of thunder) is the most terrifying not all made up crisis to hit the world since the Y2K bug and the Swine Flu epidemic that has already claimed millions of lives.

You might be sitting in your above water home right now and scoffing at my words, but you'll be scoffing out of the other side of your mouth when the icebergs melt and you're sharing your basement with a very angry Polar Bear. Believe me I have spent months of my life living in Antarctica side by side with very angry Polar Bears and I can promise you that you won't enjoy the experience.

I realize that the leak of private emails from the Anglia Climactic Research Institute has undermined some people's confidence in the charts and graphs we show people on television. And I really do understand why. It's because you people are ignorant swine unfit to kiss the boots of brilliant scientists like me. You probably think the earth is still flat and that ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny. People like you persecuted Galileo, hounded Newton and picked up torches and burned out Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory. You understand nothing of science. Nothing!

Understanding Climategate's Hidden Decline

Close followers of the Climategate controversy know that much of the mêlée surrounds an email in which Climate Research Unit (CRU) chief Phil Jones wrote about using “Mike’s Nature Trick” (MNT) to “hide the decline.” And yet, 17 days and thousands of almost exclusively on-line op-eds into this scandal, it still seems very few understand exactly which “decline” was being hidden, what “trick” was used to do so, and why Jones’s words have become the slogan for the greatest scientific fraud in history.

As the mainstream media move from abject denial to dismissive whitewashing, CRU co-conspirators move to Copenhagen for tomorrow’s UN climate meeting, intent on changing the world as we know it based primarily on their now exposed trickery. Add yesterday’s announcement of a UN investigation into the matter, which will no doubt be no less corrupt than those being investigated, and public awareness of how and why that trick was performed is now more vital than ever.


So please allow me to explain in what I hope are easily digestible terms.

Ga bijvoorbeeld eens naar Glaciaal (tijdvak), klik op een paar links en zie hoe vaak de aarde in de afgelopen miljoenen jaren van haar bestaan al drastisch is afgekoeld en opgewarmd, en dat zonder dat er zelfs maar mensen bestónden. Je zou toch op zijn minst mogen verwachten dat wetenschappers keiharde, wetenschappelijk onderbouwde bewijzen leveren voor de bewering dat de opwarming deze keer door de mens wordt veroorzaakt voor je economische zelfmoord gaat plegen.

Uitgaand van computermodellen wordt ons verteld dat door het gebruik van fossiele brandstof de hoeveelheid CO2 in de atmosfeer toeneemt en de temperatuur stijgt, en dat we onze manier van leven drastisch zullen moeten wijzigen om een planetaire ramp te voorkomen.

Om te zorgen dat de computermodellen accuraat zijn, moeten alle factoren die het klimaat beïnvloeden, in de computer worden ingevoerd. Het grootste deel van die factoren is nog niet eens bekend, dus hoe kunnen we dan de computermodellen vertrouwen?

CO2 veroorzaakt geen temperatuurstijging, zoals wordt beweerd. Onderzoek van monsters uit de Vostokgletsjer op Antarctica hebben aangetoond dat, hoewel er verband bestaat tussen de stijging van de temperatuur en de toename van de hoeveelheid CO2 in de atmosfeer, de toename van de hoeveelheid CO2 bijna duizend jaar later VOLGT op de stijging van de temperatuur.

Historisch gezien is de huidige hoeveelheid CO2 in de atmosfeer vrij laag. De meest vruchtbare periode van onze aarde was het Cambrium, 542 miljoen jaar geleden, wat blijkt uit de fossielen uit die tijd. De planeet was warm. De hoeveelheid CO2 in de atmosfeer was twintig keer hoger dan nu. De hele planeet was groen, en ook het zuurstofgehalte was ongewoon hoog.

Ook in de periode dat de dinosaurussen heersten was het CO2-gehalte vijf keer hoger dan nu, waardoor er genoeg plantaardig leven op aarde was om deze enorme dieren in leven te houden.

Zelfs nu is de diversiteit van zowel plantaardig als dierlijk leven op onze planeet het grootst rond de equator – het warmste deel van de planeet.

Men zegt dat het afkalven van de ijsplaten op het Antarctisch Schiereiland het bewijs is dat de grootste ijsmassa ter wereld, die ongeveer 90% van al het ijs op de wereld omvat, bezig is weg te smelten. Het Antarctisch Schiereiland beslaat 2% van het continent. Op de resterende 98% van het continent is de hoeveelheid ijs jaarlijks met ongeveer 27 gigaton toegenomen. Dit gegeven is niet afkomstig van computermodellen, maar van dertig jaar satellietmetingen. Uit dezelfde empirische observaties blijkt dat de concentratie van zee-ijs rond Antarctica nog nooit zo hoog is geweest.

Elk computermodel laat zien dat de opwarming door het broeikaseffect in verband wordt gebracht met een “hot spot” ongeveer zes tot 9 kilometer boven de equator. Die plek wordt al vijftig jaar geobserveerd. Die "hot spot” bestaat niet. Als er opwarming wordt waargenomen is het dus waarschijnlijk niet het gevolg van een broeikaseffect zoals de modellen dat verklaren.

Men zegt dat het smelten van het poolijs de toekomst van de ijsbeer in gevaar brengt. Vijftig jaar geleden waren er 5000 ijsberen. Tegenwoordig zijn er 25.000. Dat lijkt niet bepaald op uitsterven. In 1905 voer de Noorse kapitein Roald Amundsen in een zeilboot door de Noordwestpassage. Tegenwoordig wordt deze route gewoonlijk geblokkeerd door zee-ijs.

Al Gore beweert in zijn film An Inconvenient Truth, dat de zeespiegel in de komende eeuw zo’n zeven meter zal stijgen. Volgens wetenschappers is de laatste ijstijd ongeveer 11.000 jaar geleden ten einde gekomen. Sindsdien is de zeespiegel iets meer dan een meter per eeuw gestegen. In de 20e eeuw steeg de zeespiegel ongeveer 20 centimeter. Volgens dr. Nils-Axel Moemer van de universiteit van Stockholm, die 520 door vakgenoten beoordeelde artikelen over de zeespiegel heeft geschreven en wordt beschouwd als een van de meest gezaghebbende deskundigen ter wereld, heeft onlangs verklaard dat het niveau van de zeespiegel de laatste drie jaar niet is veranderd.

Jaren geleden ontwikkelde dr. Richard Lindzen, de Alfred P. Sloan-professor voor meteorologie aan MIT, de theorie dat hogere temperaturen over de equator tot gevolg hebben dat cirruswolken verdwijnen waardoor hitte in de atmosfeer ontsnapt. Die theorie is nu een bewezen feit, gekwantificeerd door NASA. Dit feit wordt in de computermodellen buiten beschouwing gelaten.

Dat is precies waar deze hele discussie om draait. Het hele idee van de door de mens veroorzaakte opwarming van de aarde is een theorie die is gebaseerd op computermodellen. Niets daarvan is door zorgvuldige, empirische observaties als bewezen feit vast komen te staan.

Dankzij de gelekte/gehackte e-mails van de Climate Research Unit van het Britse Hadley Instituut weten we nu dat de wetenschappers die de bewijzen hadden moeten leveren zich blijkbaar liever bezig hielden met:

- het "aanpassen" van de computercodes
- het selectief wel of niet gebruiken van ruwe data ("hide the decline")
- het ondermijnen van kritiek van collega's
- het corrumperen van het beoordelingssysteem door vakgenoten
- het onder de pet houden/weggooien van de ruwe data (negeren van verzoeken onder FOIA)

Als een aarde zonder mensen ook al tientallen keren drastisch is opgewarmd en afgekoeld, en wetenschappers het blijkbaar nodig vonden om hun theorie op allerlei frauduleuze manieren geloofwaardig(er) te maken, vraag je je af waarom politici ondanks alles stug doorgaan met de klimaatconferentie in Kopenhagen. Je zou toch verwachten dat de eerste vereiste van onderhandelingen waarmee 145 triljoen dollar belastinggeld is gemoeid, de feitelijke onderbouwing van de noodzaak zou zijn? Niet dus. Hm... Zouden er misschien andere belangen spelen? Is het voorkomen van een globale ramp niet het uiteindelijke doel, maar het middel om iets heel anders te verwezenlijken?

John Linder:

Een paar maanden geleden legde Al Gore het uiteindelijke doel uit: global governance, wereldbestuur. Als de klimaatalarmisten hun zin krijgen zou de economie van de VS ondergeschikt zijn aan de grillen van een door de VN geleide klimaatregering die geen verantwoording hoeft af te leggen aan de Amerikaanse belastingbetaler, maar beslist Amerikaans belastinggeld gaat gebruiken om te functioneren. Omdat zo veel landen de VS maar al te graag de schuld geven van wat ze grappig genoeg bestempelen als een catastrofaal afglijden naar globale verwoesting, weet ik wel zeker dat de nieuwe VN Klimaatregering erop gebrand zal zijn de rekening bij de Amerikaanse belastingbetaler neer te leggen. Het concept-document van tweehonderd bladzijden zegt dat in feite al. We zullen de rekening gepresenteerd krijgen voor onze “klimaatschuld”. En we zullen onze soevereiniteit onderwerpen aan internationale wetten.

De afgelopen twee miljoen jaar heeft deze planeet ongeveer twintig ijstijden doorgemaakt. Ze duren ongeveer honderdduizend jaar, en worden onderbroken door opwarmende periodes van ongeveer tienduizend jaar. Het is bijna elfduizend jaar geleden dat de laatste ijstijd eindigde. De afgelopen eeuw hebben we een van de langste periodes van hoge zonneactiviteit gezien sinds de laastste ijstijd. De temperaturen gingen omhoog. Gedurende de laatste elf jaar was er minder zonneactiviteit dan we in heel lange tijd hebben gezien. De temperatuur is gedurende elf jaar ook gelijk gebleven of gedaald (À propos, geen één van de computermodellen, die zo vol vertrouwen voorspellen wat er in de komende honderd jaar gaat gebeuren, heeft die afkoeling voorspeld). Laten we hopen dat dit geen teken is van de volgende ijstijd – één die echt mensenlevens zal kosten.

Er bestaat geen noodzaak voor een klimaatverdrag in Kopenhagen. Het wordt tijd het ons voortdurend misleidende en op eigenbelang beluste klimaatpanel van de VN te ontbinden. Officieel gesponsord klimaatextremisme is een gevaar voor onze nationale veiligheid.

Global governance, is dat niet alweer zo'n samenzweringstheorie? Wel, als Al Gore het woord in de mond neemt...



Niet alleen Al Gore streeft naar Global Governance, ook de nieuwe president van de EUSSR, van Rompuy, vindt dat onze planeet onder mondiaal bestuur hoort te vallen.



Rompuy op 2.09 min:
"2009 is also the first year of global governance with the establishment of the G20 in the middle of a financial crisis. The climate conference in Copenhagen is another step toward the global management of our planet." ("2009 is ook het eerste jaar van wereldbestuur met het bijeenkomen van de G20 tijdens de financiële crisis. De klimaatconferentie in Kopenhagen is nog een stap in de richting van het mondiale bestuur van onze planeet.")

Op het ogenblik is de aandacht en de verontwaardiging met betrekking tot Climategate voornamelijk (en natuurlijk zeer terecht) nog gericht op de frauderende wetenschappers. Maar vergeten we hierbij niet de rol van hun broodheren: de politici? De budgetten voor klimaatonderzoek zijn de afgelopen jaren tot duizelingwekkende hoogten gestegen. Ondanks veelvuldige kritiek op de theorie, ook uit wetenschappelijke hoek, is er door de politiek met die kritiek zelden of nooit iets gedaan. De alarmerende resultaten waren immers goed te gebruiken voor hun eigen doeleinden. Never let a crisis go to waste...

Niet alleen de Amerikaanse belastingbetaler zal worden getild door de VN Klimaatregering. Ook wij mogen straks een steeds groter wordend deel van onze zuurverdiende centjes in naam van het milieu overhevelen naar de zielepieten in de Derde Wereld. Minister Cramer vindt het feit dat de e-mails "gehackt" zijn uit een Brits klimaatinstituut blijkbaar veel belangrijker dan de schokkende inhoud. Ze is dan ook van plan om de energieheffingen maar eens flink te verhogen. Net als president Obama blijft ze zich inzetten voor het succes van Kopenhagen om zo de VN de mogelijkheid te geven "de rijkdom te verdelen".

Voor de wetenschappers onderzoeksgeld en carrièremogelijkheden, voor politici meer macht ten koste van de burger. Die is er blijkbaar alleen om het geld op te hoesten.

Climategate: Caught Green-Handed!

WHAT IS TO BE DONE?

In public policy terms, the revelation that the international scientific and political establishment has been inventing, bending, distorting, manipulating, hiding, blocking, and destroying scientific data for the sake of advancing a narrow, extremist, and bitterly anti-Western political viewpoint cannot be safely ignored.

Climate science is too important to be left to politicized scientists, just as climate politics is too important to be left to unscientific politicians.

The first step is to close the Climate Research Unit (and perhaps the University of East Anglia with it), to dismiss all of its personnel, and not to allow any of them to be funded by taxpayers ever again. Scientific fraud and corruption on the scale that has now been revealed must be firmly rooted out and prevented from recurring.

Those responsible for the deliberate blocking, altering, concealing, or destroying of scientific data must be put on trial – to use James Hansen’s term – for “high crimes against humanity”. For it is on the word of crooks and racketeers such as these that, in the name of addressing the non-problem that they had invented and fostered and festered, the Third World has been flung into food riots and mass starvation by the doubling of world food prices that followed the biofuel scam that the “global-warming” profiteers invented as just one of a bewildering array of boondoggles to enrich themselves at the expense of the little guy, who, as always, suffers when the political elite merely exploit him when it is their duty to serve him.

Let the climate criminals stand trial, and let them be fined for offenses under the Freedom of Information laws, and let them be imprisoned for their fraudulent tampering with scientific data, and for their suppression of results uncongenial to their politicized viewpoint, and for the sheer venom with which they have publicly as well as privately denigrated all those scientists with whom they disagreed, and for the insouciance with which they interfered with editors of scientific journals and with the process of the UN’s climate panel itself.

Once the fraudsters on both sides of the Atlantic have been locked up and cleared from the field, it will be essential to obtain a reliable indication of how temperatures are really changing worldwide. For the oceans, this necessary step has already been taken. The 3319 automated bathythermograph buoys of the ARGO project, deployed throughout the world’s oceans since 2003, have for the first time provided a reasonably accurate profile of temperature change in the climate-relevant upper mile of the ocean surface. They have shown that, throughout their period of operation, there has been no net accumulation of heat-energy in the world’s oceans. None whatsoever.

The analysis has recently been extended backward for 68 years by Douglass and Knox (2009), who find that there has been no accumulation of heat-energy in the oceans for 68 years. This conclusion, like the results from the ARGO buoys, is fatal to the official (and now discredited) notion that a very small increase in the atmospheric concentration of CO2 will engender a very large warming.

Might an analysis of land surface temperatures produce a similarly uncongenial result for the world’s classe politique, mesmerized as it is by the prospect of vastly increasing its own wealth and power by setting up an unelected world government with massive powers to tax, regulate, interfere, shut down free markets, and cancel patent and intellectual property rights, and all in the name of saving us from ourselves?

One of the thousands of emails released by the heroic whistleblower suggests that the answer to this question is Yes. One Team member recently wrote to his conspirators to point out that land temperatures had risen twice as fast as ocean temperatures, a fact which, he said, would be seized upon by skeptics who would point out that the Climate Research Unit, like GISS/NCDC, had failed to make sufficient allowance for the “urban heat-island effect” – the increasing industrialization that has surrounded once-rural temperature stations with tarmac and industry and the direct and indirect output of heat that they bring.

Manifestly, something must now be done to put right the damage that has been done to climate science by the malevolent and incompetent antics of the Team.

First, there is now a need for a standardized, international network of properly-sited, modern, automated land temperature monitoring stations, reporting by satellite so that the data are immediately available to all. The aim should be to equal the reliability and public accessibility of the ARGO bathythermographs that have been deployed for the past six years in the oceans.

Until this standardized network has been installed worldwide, calibrated, and declared operational, all terrestrial and satellite temperature records should be regarded with profound suspicion, and no public policy – particularly any policy that menaces the freedom, democracy, and prosperity of the West – should be founded upon them.

Secondly, all those whose emails have demonstrated that they have acted maliciously and in bad faith – even those whose conduct stopped short of being actually criminal – should be dismissed from every publicly-funded scientific post, and should be permanently debarred from participating in any international scientific endeavour, including the UN’s climate panel. On grounds of its sheer nastiness alone, the Team should be disbanded forthwith and for aye, never to trouble humankind again.

Thirdly, all public policy measures to address what is now known to be the manufactured non-problem of “global warming” should be put on hold forthwith, and no further public policy measures should be instituted at any future time, unless and until global mean surface temperature, as properly and independently measured by the new methods recommended here, shall have risen by at least 1 C° (2 F°) compared with temperature in the year 2000.

Fourthly, all “global-warming” profiteers who are making money out of carbon-trading or “green investment” or UN climate boondoggles of whatever kind should be warned, and clearly warned, that now that the basis for their profitable activities is known to be hollow and fraudulent, they themselves will be indicted, prosecuted, and jailed for fraud, and their profits confiscated as the fruits of money-laundering, if in future they participate in any fostering or furthering or promoting of the lies, damned lies, and bogus statistics that have now shown the entire “global warming” theory to be nothing more than a scam.

We end this paper on temperature trends with the following quotation from Dwight D. Eisenhower’s farewell address to the nation as President of the United States –

“Public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite ... The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present – and is gravely to be regarded.”

Amen to that.
