And more censorship: Tommy Robinson Suspended from Twitter for Stating Statistical Fact About Muslims in Grooming Gangs

The controversial activist Tommy Robinson has been suspended from Twitter for quoting research which found that nearly 90 per cent of convicted grooming gang members in the UK are Muslim.

Mr. Robinson was suspended from the social media platform for 7 days for stating the findings of the Quilliam Foundation think tank, whose founder worked as an adviser to Prime Minister David Cameron on issues around Islam.

“90% of grooming gang convictions are Muslims,” Mr. Robinson wrote in a tweet on February 25th, rounding up the number identified by the Quilliam research, which found that 84 per cent of convicted groomers were Muslim in December last year.

Twitter decided the statement of fact “violated the Twitter rules” and “temporarily limited some of your account features”, which included tweeting publicly on the website – effectively censoring him for a week.

Eurosceptic? EU must be joking

WHY do these swivel-eyed, ­mouth-foaming, ear-steaming ­Eurosceptics keep banging on and on and on about a referendum?

We had one as recently as 1975!

A mere 36 years later, and these drooling Little Englanders keep demanding that the British people should have more of a say in the running of Britain. Nutty or what?

Look, the bigoted xenophobes need to understand that our politicians are united on this subject – Tories, Lib Dems and Labour have all broken manifesto promises to hold a ­referendum on Europe. It’s called democracy.

Can’t the ­goose-stepping Eurosceptics see that we owe our national prosperity to the European Union? Anyone would think that the lambada-dancing, ­tax-dodging, moussaka-munching nations of the EU have dragged it to the very edge of bankruptcy. Racist rubbish!

EU Elite Again Gives Thumbs Down to Democracy

Isn't it three strikes and you're out? Not in the European Union, it seems. Just taxation without representation. Three times, and in three countries, Europe's governing elites have now blocked attempts to submit the so-called European Project of the European Union and its currency, the euro, to a popular vote. In one case, the attempt by a head of government to call a referendum even triggered his ouster from power and his replacement by an EU banker.

First was in the United Kingdom. There, on October 23, Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron and his coalition government faced down a Parliamentary resolution sponsored by his own Conservative back-benchers. It would have required that the UK's membership in the European Union be put to a referendum. The Conservatives once stood for such a vote.

Britain has travelled steadily towards the edge of the cliff

The tenth anniversary of 9/11 has been marked by a fresh outbreak in Britain of the political equivalent of auto-immune disease: treating the mortal enemies of the west as the victims of the west, while treating the west’s defenders as its mortal enemies.

One thing al Qaeda got right about Britain and Europe (but not about the patriotic heartlands of the US) was that they no longer had the will to fight and die for their beliefs because they no longer knew what they were.

Surely, however, even al Qaeda could not have envisaged quite how stunningly incapable the western intelligentsia and political class would be of grasping the difference between civilisation and its would-be destroyers, and how comprehensively they would therefore play into the Islamists’ hands – even now, ten years on.

For the chattering classes seem determined to give al Qaeda a helping hand in reducing the west to a state of paralysis and impotence. According to liberal opinion, every single thing America did after 9/11 was wrong.

The strategy of pre-emptive war was wrong. Better, apparently, that Saddam should still be in power developing his nuclear, biological and chemical weapons programmes! Better that the Taliban were still in power training al Qaeda! Then we would all be so much safer!

The Desperation-of-Deprivation Myth

Unlike many of my comrades in the punditry game, I don’t do a lot of TV. But I’m currently promoting my latest doom-mongering bestseller, so I’m spending more time than usual on the telly circuit. This week I was on the BBC’s current-affairs flagship Newsnight. My moment in the spotlight followed a report on the recent riots in English cities, in the course of which an undercover reporter interviewed various rioters from Manchester who’d had a grand old time setting their city ablaze and then expressed no remorse over it. There then followed a studio discussion, along the usual lines. The host introduced a security guard who’d fought for Queen and country in Afghanistan and Bosnia and asked whether he sympathized with his neighbors. He did. When you live in an “impoverished society,” he said, “people do what they have to do to survive.”

On the erosion of personal liberty.


If I am pessimistic about the future of liberty, it is because I am pessimistic about the strength of the English-speaking nations, which have, in profound ways, surrendered to forces at odds with their inheritance. “Declinism” is in the air, but some of us apocalyptic types are way beyond that. The United States is facing nothing so amiable and genteel as Continental-style “decline,” but something more like sliding off a cliff.

In the days when I used to write for Fleet Street, a lot of readers and several of my editors accused me of being anti-British. I’m not. I’m extremely pro-British and, for that very reason, the present state of the United Kingdom is bound to cause distress. So, before I get to the bad stuff, let me just lay out the good. Insofar as the world functions at all, it’s due to the Britannic inheritance. Three-sevenths of the G7 economies are nations of British descent. Two-fifths of the permanent members of the U.N. Security Council are—and, by the way, it should be three-fifths: The rap against the Security Council is that it’s the Second World War victory parade preserved in aspic, but, if it were, Canada would have a greater claim to be there than either France or China. The reason Canada isn’t is because a third Anglosphere nation and a second realm of King George VI would have made too obvious a truth usually left unstated—that the Anglosphere was the all but lone defender of civilization and of liberty. In broader geopolitical terms, the key regional powers in almost every corner of the globe are British-derived—from Australia to South Africa to India—and, even among the lesser players, as a general rule you’re better off for having been exposed to British rule than not: Why is Haiti Haiti and Barbados Barbados?
