Obama Snatched Ramadi Defeat from Bush Victory

The White House description of the fall of Ramadi to ISIS forces we have supposedly been busy degrading and destroying as a “setback” is like the British calling Dunkirk in World War II a strategic withdrawal. Ramadi is a defeat, the result of the precipitous withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq by President Obama against the advice of military minds who know better about these things than the former community organizer from Illinois.

It is a defeat for President Obama’s foreign policy, a rebuke of his fundamental transformation of America’s role in the world from a leader who shaped events to one of treating foreign affairs as a spectator sport, with the U.S. “leading from behind” and being left behind in the process.

Critics of our role in Iraq offer the chaos in Iraq as a rebuke of President George W. Bush’s decision to topple the brutal dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, a regime that had used weapons of mass destruction against Iran in its war with its equally belligerent neighbor, and which had used these weapons against its own people at Halabja. The successful defeat of Saddam Hussein and liberation of Iraq was done at great expense in lives and treasure.

Het is weer eens zover...

Het is weer eens zover. Een vrome moslim draait door en veroorzaakt, luidkeels Arabische leuzen roepend, tientallen doden en gewonden onder ongelovigen.

De politiek correcte kudde (media, politiek) zoekt weer naar de gebruikelijke excuses om toch maar vooral de mythe van "islam=is=vrede" in stand te houden.

De familie bezweert dat hij een goede Amerikaan is, die moeite had met zijn aanstaande uitzending naar Irak (als hij niet tegen andere moslims wilde vechten, wat deed hij dan in het leger???).

Een Amerikaanse moslimorganisatie spreekt haar afschuw uit over de moordpartij, maar waarschuwt tegelijk voor de bekende "backlash" tegen arme onschuldige moslims (die overigens nog nooit werkelijkheid is geworden).

Wie de berichtgeving op blogs als Hot Air en Jihad Watchvolgt, kan eigenlijk alleen maar tot de conclusie komen dat deze man de jihad verkoos boven mogelijke andere oplossingen van zijn problemen. Uit o.a. het bovenstaande interview blijkt ook dat allang duidelijk had moeten zijn dat hij een gevaar vormde.

Het Westen vecht in Irak en Afghanistan tegen "fundamentalistische islamieten", en laat intussen dezelfde islam rustig doorwoekeren in eigen land. Als we onze superieure Westerse beschaving willen redden zullen we daar toch echt iets aan moeten doen!

En dan nog iets: majoor Nidal Malik Hasan, van afkomst Palestijn, stond op het punt uitgezonden te worden naar Irak. Blogger Thanos merkte gisteren op Little Green Footballs op dat drie jaar eerder, precies op 5 november 2006, Saddam Hussein ter dood werd veroordeeld. Toeval?
