“The Unmitigated Horror”

The Moroccan apostate Kassim al-Ghasali left Islam and became an atheist, and is now a political refugee in Switzerland. As reported by Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, he spoke at the Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy last month. The following interview with Mr. Al-Ghasali was published by Die Welt, and has been translated by JLH.

Elisabeth sends this introduction:

In February, I had the pleasure of listening to Kassim’s speech at the Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy. He is a young man from Morocco who dared to speak his mind and received death threats as a result. He currently resides in Switzerland, seeking asylum and hoping for the best. As JLH succinctly notes (and whom we thank for the translation):
“A quite sophisticated understanding of what the Enlightenment did and why it was able to do it, versus the amorphous situation in Islam, with no temporal central authority to institute reform.”

In his blogs, Moroccan Kassim al-Ghasali openly and assertively professes his atheism. Because he can no longer believe in Islam, he receives death threats and had to leave his homeland.

Two years ago, in February 2011, Kassim al-Ghasali fled to Switzerland. He had to leave his homeland, Morocco, because he no longer believed in Islam and had publicly professed atheism. Since then, he has continued to receive death threats. Now the 22 year-old is writing two blogs with a worldwide readership from exile — one on political Islam and one on human rights subjects.

Interest in his essays is great. More than 13,000 users on Facebook follow him. At the summit on human rights and democracy in Geneva this year, he gave a talk about his experiences as an atheist in Morocco. In an interview, Kassim al-Ghasali talks about his life in Western society, his criticism of Islam and what it means, that he has had to leave his homeland for political reasons.

Nederland: corruptie op niveau

'Dan leg ik hen dus uit hoe het werkt in Nederland, dat er geen corruptie heerst in Nederland, dus dat ik niet iemand kan omkopen om een visum te regelen', antwoordde de voormalige Volkskrant-correspondent in Afghanistan Natalie Righton toen Paul Witteman informeerde naar de vrienden die ze achterlaat in Afghanistan (Pauw & Witteman, 11-2-2013). Nee, zo werkt het doorgaans niet in Nederland. In de corruptie-index van Transparancy International behoort Nederland al jaren tot de top tien van minst corrupte landen. Hoe werkt het dan wel in Nederland?

Als Joop van den Ende bang is dat de btw-verhoging voor theaterkaartjes zijn producties schaadt, dan regelt hij dat even in een onderonsje met premier Rutte. Als er op Koninginnedag een boot vol (oud-)politici als Mark Rutte, Jan Kees de Jager, Ed Nijpels en Joop Wijn door de Amsterdamse grachten vaart, dan kan het maar zo dat die boot is geregeld door Aegon-directeur Jan Driessen. Jan Driessen is VVD'er en adviseur van Rutte. Aegon is het verzekeringsbedrijf dat met de woekerpolissen zo innovatief meegraaide in de beurs van goedgelovige burgers en in 2008 namens diezelfde burgers werd verwend met 3 miljard euro staatssteun. Als de KPN meer geld moet verdienen, dan heeft Tweede Kamerlid en voormalig KPN-medewerker Afke Schaart (VVD) een luisterend oor. Als de lobbyisten de Eerste Kamer zouden verlaten, dan zouden er nog maar weinig senatoren overblijven.

 

In de wereld van zorg (Maevita), onderwijs (Amarantis), woningbouw (Rochdale, Vestia) en vastgoed (Bouwfonds) zijn de sociaaldemocraten veel sterker vertegenwoordigd dan in bovengenoemd rijtje. In deze voorheen door idealen gedreven wereld blijkt wat tegenwoordig het 'eerlijke verhaal' is: dat de posities met de meeste mogelijkheden voor exhibitionistische zelfverrijking eerlijk verdeeld moeten worden.

Al een aantal Nederlandse regeringen achter elkaar hebben maatregelen genomen die maken dat de mensen in Nederland minder hebben te besteden, slechter onderwijs krijgen, slechter maar wel verplicht verzekerd zijn tegen de kosten van medische behandelingen, meer moeite hebben zich te verplaatsen van huis naar werk, meer last hebben van straatroof en andere ‘kleine’ misdaad, beknot worden in kleine pleziertjes als roken en naar een kroeg gaan.

Dan hebben we het nog niet gehad over de permanente stroom kansarme migranten of de wonderlijke straffen die er aan moordenaars worden gegeven, en het ‘op proef’ vrijlaten van (volgens de overheid:) krankzinnigen die bloed aan hun handen hebben maar die toch niet zo krankzinnig zijn dat ze hun daden ook gepleegd zouden hebben als hun slachtoffer niet weerloos was of er een politieagent had staan toekijken. Ook Defensie blijft niet onaangetast door de maatregelen van onze wijze en capabele regering: we zouden eens in staat kunnen zijn ons te verdedigen tegen boosaardige gewelddadige plannen uit het buitenland.

Shut Up or I’ll Kill You

We’re a fractious people, always have been, and our politics have been especially colorful. I’m a nearly lifelong fan of John C. Calhoun’s line about Henry Clay: “Like a mackerel by moonlight, he shines and stinks …”. Our political candidates have been mocked for their love affairs, their wooden legs, their false teeth, and their drinking habits. It’s not elegant, but rude, insulting talk is one of the products of free speech.

It’s worth reminding ourselves that free speech around the world is still a rarity, and seems to be becoming even rarer. Lots of countries have the death penalty and other violent punishments for “insulting the state” or “the leader.” In religious states, such talk is branded blasphemy; in all too many secular states, unrestrained criticism of favored groups falls under the arbitrary classification of “hate speech” and is suppressed.

Citizens and subjects of such places are not at all like Americans; they learn habits of mind and mouth that are quite different from ours. They learn to be silent about any subject that could arouse the displeasure of the thought police, and they learn to speak in code, using words to mean things very different from their dictionary meanings. If they are unhappy with their lot or see ways things could be improved, they don’t dare reveal their true feelings openly and explicitly.

'De euro is helemaal niet goed voor onze welvaart'

De bewering dat de euro goed is voor onze welvaart is zo'n grote leugen dat men gewoon niet kan geloven dat het niet waar is, vindt Pepijn van Houwelingen.

Het Europese integratieproject is, met Camerons aankondiging van een Brits referendum, op losse schroeven komen te staan. Omdat de EU bij velen bovendien allang geen warme gevoelens meer oproept, is het niet verwonderlijk dat voorstanders van verdere integratie zich nu verbeten achter hun laatste verdedigingslinie hebben verschanst: zonder de EU en de euro kan Nederland niet welvarend zijn. Guy Verhofstadt bleef dit afgelopen zondag in Buitenhof maar zeggen: als Nederland net zoals de Britten een referendum organiseert en uit de EU stapt, volgt een economisch armageddon.

Maar is dat zo? Hetzelfde werd immers alom verkondigd toen de president van IJsland zo moedig was een referendum uit te schrijven. De bevolking van IJsland verwierp met een grote meerderheid het verdrag dat toen met Nederland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk was gesloten over de terugbetaling van leningen en zie, na een paar zware jaren klimt IJsland op dit moment weer snel uit het dal. Waarom zou Nederland niet rijk en welvarend kunnen zijn buiten de EU en zonder de euro? Kijk naar Zwitserland - een land dat net zoals Nederland veel naar de EU exporteert en een grote financiële industrie heeft - of Noorwegen. Ook het Verenigd Koninkrijk kan op dit moment goed handel drijven met het continent terwijl het de euro niet heeft ingevoerd. Er bestaan zelfs veel kleine en erg welvarende landen die net zoals Nederland bijzonder afhankelijk zijn van de internationale handel maar toch hun eigen munt hebben. Singapore is een mooi voorbeeld.

"When you go swimming, it’s much healthier to keep your whole body completely covered, you know.” The Muslim lady behind the counter in my local pharmacy has recently started giving me advice like this. It’s kindly meant and I’m always glad to hear her views because she is one of the few people in west London where I live who talks to me.

 

The streets around Acton, which has been my home since 1996, have taken on a new identity. Most of the shops are now owned by Muslims and even the fish and chip shop and Indian takeaway are Halal. It seems that almost overnight it’s changed from Acton Vale into Acton Veil.
 

Of the 8.17 million people in London, one million are Muslim, with the majority of them young families. That is not, in reality, a great number. But because so many Muslims increasingly insist on emphasising their separateness, it feels as if they have taken over; my female neighbours flap past in full niqab, some so heavily veiled that I can’t see their eyes. I’ve made an effort to communicate by smiling deliberately at the ones I thought I was seeing out and about regularly, but this didn’t lead to conversation because they never look me in the face.
 

I recently went to the plainly named “Curtain Shop” and asked if they would put some up for me. Inside were a lot of elderly Muslim men. I was told that they don’t do that kind of work, and was back on the pavement within a few moments. I felt sure I had suffered discrimination and was bewildered as I had been there previously when the Muslim owners had been very friendly. Things have changed. I am living in a place where I am a stranger.

Aan de leiband van de Brusselse zonnekoninkjes

Volgens De Telegraaf stationeert de Europese Commissie vanaf half februari een vaste begrotingscontroleur in Den Haag.

Deze Brusselse ambtenaar, de European Semester Officer, houdt dagelijks in de gaten of en hoe de ministeries de aanbevelingen uit Brussel uitvoeren, zo meldt het Financieele Dagblad. Volgens ingewijden wordt het de Belg Jean-Luc Annaert. Hij zou per half februari naar Nederland komen.
Annaert heeft geen bevoegdheid om politici of ambtenaren te corrigeren of terecht te wijzen. Acht lidstaten hebben sinds kort al zo'n European Semester Officer. Het is een van de manieren waarop de Commissie probeert meer greep te krijgen op begrotingen en economisch beleid in de lidstaten.
 

Toch fijn dat we op de vingers worden gekeken door een organisatie wier eigen jaarrekening nog nooit door de accountants is goedgekeurd, en die, terwijl alle lidstaten streng bezuinigen, glashard volhoudt dat ze meer geld nodig heeft om de Brusselse schoorsteen rokende te houden...

Update: "EU-spion met pek en veren land uit"

De partij van Wilders ziet er meer heil in om een vaste Nederlandse controleur in Brussel te stationeren die kan toezien op juiste besteding van het Nederlandse belastinggeld.
 

Een schot in de roos van Geert Wilders. Misschien wordt die Brusselse jaarrekening dan in de toekomst toch ooit nog een keer door de accountants goedgekeurd!

Daniel Hannan: Waarom GB uit de EU moet

Sterke column.

In de Telegraph legt Tory MEP Daniel Hannan uit waarom Groot-Brittannië beter af is buiten de EU. Kerncitaat:

Consider Switzerland. The Swiss declined to join the EU, instead negotiating a series of sectoral trade accords covering everything from fish farming to the permitted size of lorries. As a result, they are fully covered by the four freedoms of the single market – free movement, that is, of goods, services, people and capital – but are outside the CAP and CFP, free to determine their own human rights issues, and spared the budget contributions which EU members are required to make to Brussels. Has their trade to the EU suffered in consequence? Hardly. In 2011, their exports to the EU were, in per capita terms, 450 per cent of Britain’s. Let me repeat that astonishing fact. Switzerland sells four-and-a-half times as much per head to the EU from outside as we do from inside.

Eurocraten willen niet dat dit soort cijfers ons onder ogen komen. Ze willen ons immers doen geloven dat we alleen zaken kunnen doen met andere Europese landen als we lid zijn van de EU. Dat is onzin: Zwitserland doet het prima, maar is niettemin onafhankelijk.

Mijn duit in het zakje: Laten we vooral ook niet vergeten dat het Nederlandse volk dertig jaar of langer is voorgehouden dat de massa-immigratie ons geld opleverde en een verrijking was voor ons land. Nee, dat hoefde niemand uit te rekenen, dat wás gewoon zo, punt. Tot die lastige Wilders het liet uitrekenen door bureau Nyfer en bleek dat diezelfde massa-immigratie ons per jaar 7,2 miljard kostte (en nu nog kost!). Waarna Elsevier  de totale kosten van die immigratie nog eens uitrekende en, tot en met 2010, uitkwam op een negatief saldo van 216,4 miljard euro. En dat bovenop het feit dat we nettobetaler zijn aan de EUSSR. Geen wonder dus dat we steeds meer verarmen!


Dave's EU speech: waffle, platitudes and vague promises

This morning David Cameron gave his long-awaited speech on his vision of our future relationship with the European Union. While it wasn’t the tantric experience we were promised, for the first time Cameron is talking about the possibility of Britain leaving the European Union which is undoubtedly a victory for Ukip and, more importantly, public opinion.

What did we learn? There will be no referendum unless the Conservatives win a majority at the next General Election; Cameron will first launch consultations into the sort of renegotiation that no one with the faintest knowledge of Brussels politics believes possible; Cameron is keen for Turkey to join, with the door open to others; and the “in” campaign has begun, with Cameron’s full backing.

What we saw this morning was a shameless and thinly veiled attempt by Cameron to win back the votes he knows he will need to form a Conservative government in 2015. He knows that the rise of Ukip is his single biggest problem; the party have been polling up to 16 per cent and won 21.8 per cent of the popular vote in the recent Rotherham by-election. It is estimated that Ukip could cost Cameron 51 seats, handing power to Labour. It was a desperate appeal to Eurosceptics; Cameron pleading “vote for me, or you will never have your referendum” or, more accurately, “if you vote for Ukip and cost me my majority, you'll only have yourselves to blame when the referendum never happens”.

The veil descends

In the summer of 2010, mourners lined the streets of Wales's capital city to pay tribute to a seven-year-old boy killed in a house fire. In fact, Yaseen Ali Ege was brutally beaten to death, and then set alight with barbecue fuel. By his mother. For failing to learn the Koran. Over the preceding months, Mom had used a stick, a rolling pin, and a hammer on her son, but, despite these incentives, he had memorized only a couple of pages. And so she killed him, and subsequently declared she felt "100 percent better."

This month, at Cardiff Crown Court, Mrs. Ege was sentenced and jailed by Mr. Justice Wyn Williams for what he declared "a dreadful crime" that had inflicted "a good deal of pain" on an innocent boy. The judge, however, was discreet enough not to pass comment on more basic cultural questions. He had no view on whether or not being forced to learn the Koran is an appropriate educational priority for a "Welsh" schoolboy, so long as the parental hammer and kerosene remain locked up in the toolshed. Nor on whether a child so raised can be a fully functioning member of Western society. Yaseen's headmistress at Radnor Primary School, Ann James, called him "a delightful little boy and beautifully behaved who always had a smile on his face," and forbore to mention that on the day of his murder he had been kept home from class and the "teddy bears' picnic" because his mother felt he needed to focus on his Koranic studies.

'Nederlandse topbestuurders: ook voor u tien anderen'

Waarom is de Nederlandse bestuurlijke top - die in het algemeen toch niet bekendstaat om zijn liefde voor kapitalisme - als het over de eigen beloning gaat ineens zo verzot op marktwerking? Vraagt Pepijn van Houwelingen zich af.

Zomaar een citaat uit het boek Onder Regenten, over de elite in het 18de-eeuwse Hoorn: 'Noch aan het ambt van schepen noch aan de regentschappen van de godshuizen en het weesmeesterschap waren enige inkomsten van betekenis verbonden. Het waren niet meer dan ereambten.' Noblesse oblige dus. Afgaande op de lijst met topinkomens die vorige week door minister Plasterk openbaar is gemaakt, denken Nederlandse bestuurders daar tegenwoordig wat anders over.

Een publieke functie is niet langer in eerste plaats een ereambt en daar mag dus best een flinke vergoeding tegenover staan. De bestuurders zijn het naar hun eigen mening meer dan waard. Zoals Weber al schreef: 'Das Glück will 'legitim' sein.' Maar is dat in dit geval ook zo?

I Will Not Be Intimidated

As a young boy I was shot by a man whose clear intent was to kill me as I had deliberately, by throwing broken bricks at him, interrupted his attempt to rape a young teen-aged girl, allowing her to escape. To this day I can still see the evil in his face and the sun glistening off the barrel of the pistol he aimed in my direction. As I turned and began to run away he fired hitting me in back. The bullet entering my chest felt as if someone had hit me with baseball bat followed immediately by an excruciating burning sensation as I fell to the ground from the impact. Perhaps it was the adrenaline, but I was able scramble to my feet and run as far as I could until finally passing out from the shock and loss of blood. Fortunately, someone came to my rescue and took me to a military hospital and the first step on my journey to the United States.

According to the current incarnation of the American left, who traffic constantly in victimhood and noble intentions, I should be in the vanguard of the mandatory gun control and confiscation movement. That somehow it was the inanimate object this soldier was holding and not him that was responsible for the attempt on my life or to ignore the fact that his mindset was such he would have used any weapon at hand to accomplish the same goal. 
 
On the contrary, I own a handgun today because of the experience of coming face to face with the evil that permeates some men's souls. I and the girl I rescued were defenseless. There were no police or armed citizens around and the death of another homeless and unknown boy and girl, buried in an unmarked mass grave, would have been just another easily ignored casualty of the post-War period. I was determined that I would never again face a similar circumstance. I have had in my possession firearms for virtually my entire life, as I have been fortunate to live in the one nation on earth that has embedded in its founding document the right to bear arms.

Americans never give up your guns

These days, there are few few things to admire about the socialist, bankrupt and culturally degenerating USA, but at least so far, one thing remains: the right to bare arms and use deadly force to defend one's self and possessions.

 

This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth. This was, of course, when we were free under the Tsar. Weapons, from swords and spears to pistols, rifles and shotguns were everywhere, common items. People carried them concealed, they carried them holstered. Fighting knives were a prominent part of many traditional attires and those little tubes criss crossing on the costumes of Cossacks and various Caucasian peoples? Well those are bullet holders for rifles.

 

Various armies, such as the Poles, during the Смута (Times of Troubles), or Napoleon, or the Germans even as the Tsarist state collapsed under the weight of WW1 and Wall Street monies, found that holding Russian lands was much much harder than taking them and taking was no easy walk in the park but a blood bath all its own. In holding, one faced an extremely well armed and aggressive population Hell bent on exterminating or driving out the aggressor.

Henryk Broder: “We beleven de laatste dagen van Europa”

Voor de schrijver Henryk M. Broder is de EU de grootste poging tot een ont-democratisering van de samenleving sinds het einde van de Sovjet-Unie. Hij geeft haar daarom geen overlevingskans – ook al willen de gasten op de Titanic niets horen over de ijsberg waar het oude continent op aanstuurt.

 

Beste Europeanen,

 

Een oud Russisch spreekwoord zegt: “Er bestaan geen lelijke bruiden, er bestaat alleen niet genoeg wodka.” Dat geldt niet voor de economie. Je kunt geen slechte economische stemming mooipraten, zelfs niet als je het bedrijfsfeest in een Hongaarse hoerenkast houdt. Slecht blijft slecht. Je kunt ook niet in alle rust en gemoedelijkheid “Oh, prachtige kersttijd” zingen als je weet dat bij de buurman de ut in brand staat. Want je bent bang dat het vuur of naar je eigen huis zal overslaan of dat je de dakloos geworden buren bij je zult moeten opnemen en verzorgen. Moeilijk te zeggen welk vooruitzicht op iemand als erger over komt.

 

We beleven de laatste dagen van Europa. Niet in fysieke, maar eerder in filosofisch-metaforische zin. Zoals Karl Kraus in zijn in 1922 verschenen monumentale werk “De laatste dagen van de mensheid” voorspelde, zo liggen “De laatste dagen van Europa” onmiddellijk voor ons. Nee, ze liggen er niet gewoon, ze springen als het ware op ons af.

Striking a new tone, President Obama four days ahead of his reelection test told voters Friday that he "loves" working with Republicans.

Facing criticism from Republican rival Mitt Romney that he has failed to govern in a bipartisan manner, Mr. Obama tried to convince Ohioans that he is willing and eager to cross the aisle to break gridlock in Washington in his second term.

"When the other party has been with me to help middle-class families, I love working with them," the president told about 4,000 supporters at a high school gym in Springfield, Ohio. "When we cut taxes for middle-class families and small businesses, some of them cooperated. When we came together to repeal 'Don't ask, don't tell,' there were some courageous Republican senators who stood up. I appreciate that. I will work with anybody of any party to move this country forward."

In political terms, Hurricane Sandy and the Benghazi-consulate debacle exemplify at home and abroad the fundamental unseriousness of the United States in the Obama era. In the days after Sandy hit, Barack Obama was generally agreed to have performed well. He had himself photographed in the White House Situation Room nodding thoughtfully to bureaucrats (“John Brennan, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism; Tony Blinken, National Security Advisor to the Vice President; David Agnew, Director for Intergovernmental Affairs”) and tweeted it to his 3.2 million followers. He appeared in New Jersey wearing a bomber jacket rather than a suit to demonstrate that when the going gets tough the tough get out a monogrammed Air Force One bomber jacket. He announced that he’d instructed his officials to answer all calls within 15 minutes because in America “we leave nobody behind.” By doing all this, the president “shows” he “cares” — which is true in the sense that in Benghazi he was willing to leave the entire consulate staff behind, and nobody had their calls answered within seven hours, because presumably he didn’t care. So John Brennan, the Counterterrorism guy, and Tony Blinken, the National Security honcho, briefed the president on the stiff breeze, but on September 11, 2012, when a little counterterrorism was called for, nobody bothered calling the Counterterrorism Security Group, the senior U.S. counterterrorism bureaucracy.

 

Meanwhile, FEMA rumbles on, the “emergency-management agency” that manages emergencies, very expensively, rather than preventing them. Late on the night Sandy made landfall, I heard on the local news that my state’s governor had asked the president to declare a federal emergency in every New Hampshire county so that federal funds could be “unlocked.” A quarter-million people in the Granite State were out of power. It was reported that, beyond our borders, 8 million people in a dozen states were out of power.

Exclusive: Security officials on the ground in Libya challenge CIA account

Despite a carefully narrated version of events rolled out late this week by the CIA claiming agents jumped into action as soon as they were notified of calls for help in Benghazi, security officials on the ground say calls for help went out considerably earlier -- and signs of an attack were mounting even before that.

The accounts, from foreign and American security officials in and around Benghazi at the time of the attack, indicate there was in fact a significant lag between when the threat started to show itself and help started to arrive.

According to the CIA, the first calls for assistance came at 9:40 p.m. local time from a senior State Department official at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, to the CIA annex about a mile away.

But according to multiple people on the ground that night, the Blue Mountain Security manager, who was in charge of the local force hired to guard the consulate perimeter, made calls on both two-way radios and cell phones to colleagues in Benghazi warning of problems at least an hour earlier. Those calls allegedly went to local security contractors who say that the CIA annex was also notified much earlier than 9:40 p.m. U.S. military intelligence also told Fox News that armed militia was gathering up to three hours before the attack began.

U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other Americans died in a well-planned military assault on their diplomatic mission in Benghazi seven weeks ago, the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. So why are details surfacing, piecemeal, only now?

The Obama administration sat by doing nothing for seven hours that night, ignoring calls to dispatch help from our bases in Italy, less than two hours away. It has spent the past seven weeks stretching the story out, engaging in misdirection and deception involving supposed indigenous outrage over an obscure anti-Muslim video, confident that with the aid of a docile press corps this infamous climax to four years of misguided foreign policy can be swept under the rug, at least until after Tuesday's election.

Charles Woods, father of former Navy SEAL and Henderson resident Tyrone Woods, 41, says his son died slumped over his machine gun after he and fellow ex-SEAL Glen Doherty - not the two locals who were the only bodyguards Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration would authorize - held off the enemy for seven hours.

The Obama administration was warned. They received an embassy cable June 25 expressing concern over rising Islamic extremism in Benghazi, noting the black flag of al-Qaida "has been spotted several times flying over government buildings and training facilities." The Obama administration removed a well-armed, 16-member security detail from Libya in August, The Wall Street Journal reported last month, replacing it with a couple of locals. Mr. Stevens sent a cable Aug. 2 requesting 11 additional body guards, noting "Host nation security support is lacking and cannot be depended on," reports Peter Ferrara at Forbes.com. But these requests were denied, officials testified before the House Oversight Committee earlier this month.

Based on documents released by the committee, on the day of the attack the Pentagon dispatched a drone with a video camera so everyone in Washington could see what was happening in real time. The drone documented no crowds protesting any video. But around 4 p.m. Washington received an email from the Benghazi mission saying it was under a military-style attack. The White House, the Pentagon, the State Department and the CIA were able to watch the live video feed. An email sent later that day reported "Ansar al-Sharia claims responsibility for Benghazi attack."

Not only did the White House do nothing, there are now reports that a counterterrorism team ready to launch a rescue mission was ordered to stand down.

The official explanation for the inadequate security? This administration didn't want to "offend the sensibilities" of the new radical Islamic regime which American and British arms had so recently helped install in Libya.

The official explanation for why Obama administration officials watched the attack unfold for seven hours, refusing repeated requests to send the air support and relief forces that sat less than two hours away in Italy? Silence.

An open discussion of these issues, of course, would lead to difficult questions about the wisdom of underwriting and celebrating the so-called Arab Spring revolts in the first place. While the removal of tyrants can be laudable, the results show a disturbing pattern of merely installing new tyrannies - theocracies of medieval mullahs who immediately start savaging the rights of women (including the basic right to education) and who are openly hostile to American interests.

When Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney promptly criticized the security failures in Benghazi, the White House and its lapdog media jumped all over him for another "gaffe," for speaking out too promptly and too strongly. Prompt and strong action from the White House on Sept. 11 might have saved American lives, as well as America's reputation as a nation not to be messed with. Weakness and dithering and flying to Las Vegas the next day for celebrity fund-raising parties are somehow better?

This administration is an embarrassment on foreign policy and incompetent at best on the economy - though a more careful analysis shows what can only be a perverse and willful attempt to destroy our prosperity. Back in January 2008, Barack Obama told the editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle that under his cap-and-trade plan, "If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them." He added, "Under my plan ... electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." It was also in 2008 that Mr. Obama's future Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, famously said it would be necessary to "figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe" - $9 a gallon.

Yet the president now claims he's in favor of oil development and pipelines, taking credit for increased oil production on private lands where he's powerless to block it, after he halted the Keystone XL Pipeline and oversaw a 50 percent reduction in oil leases on public lands.

These behaviors go far beyond "spin." They amount to a pack of lies. To return to office a narcissistic amateur who seeks to ride this nation's economy and international esteem to oblivion, like Slim Pickens riding the nuclear bomb to its target at the end of the movie "Dr. Strangelove," would be disastrous.

Candidate Obama said if he couldn't fix the economy in four years, his would be a one-term presidency.

Mitt Romney is moral, capable and responsible man. Just this once, it's time to hold Barack Obama to his word. Maybe we can all do something about that, come Tuesday.

CBS News has learned that during the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi, the Obama Administration did not convene its top interagency counterterrorism resource: the Counterterrorism Security Group, (CSG).

"The CSG is the one group that's supposed to know what resources every agency has. They know of multiple options and have the ability to coordinate counterterrorism assets across all the agencies," a high-ranking government official told CBS News. "They were not allowed to do their job. They were not called upon."

Information shared with CBS News from top counterterrorism sources in the government and military reveal keen frustration over the U.S. response on Sept. 11, the night Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed in a coordinated attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya.

The nature of the Benghazi disaster is now clear. Ambassador Stevens was engaged in smuggling sizable quantities of Libyan arms from the destroyed Gaddafi regime to the Syrian rebels, to help overthrow the Assad regime in Syria. Smuggling arms to the so-called "Free Syrian Army" is itself a huge gamble, but Obama has been a gambler with human lives over the last four years, as shown by the tens of thousands of Arabs who have died in the so-called Arab Spring -- which has brought nothing but disaster to the Arab world.

For the last four years, the Obama policy has been to offer aid and comfort violent Islamic radicals in the delusional belief that their loyalty can be bought. We therefore betrayed Hosni Mubarak, our 30-year ally in Egypt, so that the Muslim Brotherhood led by Muhammed Morsi could take over. Obama indeed demanded publicly that Mubarak resign, for reasons that never made any sense at all. Egypt went into a political and economic tailspin, and the Muslim Brotherhood were elected. The Muslim radicals have now purged the only other viable political force, the army and police, to protect their monopoly on power. We have colluded in that betrayal.

We gaan terug naar de jaren negentig en we doen alsof Pim Fortuyn een boze droom is geweest die we weer snel willen vergeten. We gaan terug met dit retro-kabinet terug in de tijd. Terug naar de tijd van Paars. De puinhopen van paars zijn voorbij en na Paars 1 en Paars 2 komt Paars 3 er nu aan. En zelfs de sociale partners komen onder het stof vandaan en juichen bij de terugkeer van….. het poldermodel. Alles wordt weer net als vroeger – hoopt Paars. Vz, Er is geen twijfel mogelijk. Rutte 2 is één grote aanval op de middenklasse. Dit kabinet heeft dringend geld nodig voor haar Griekse hobby en waar kun je dat geld beter halen dan bij de ruggengraat van werkend Nederland, de mensen die elke dag vroeg op staan, in de file staan, de mensen die dit land aan de gang houden, die hopen op een klein beetje meer geld in hun portemonnee, iets meer tijd om door te brengen met hun gezin. Oftewel, de Nederlandse middenklasse. Vz, ik moet het ze nageven: creatief zijn ze wel. Zet een paar mannen aan het werk in een bijzaaltje van de Tweede Kamer en geef ze als opdracht: pers Henk en Ingrid zo veel mogelijk uit. En dit is waar ze mee komen. Een onwaarschijnlijke hoeveelheid nieuwe belastingen, nieuwe lastenverhogingen, nieuwe maatregelen – allemaal bedoeld om de middenklasse nog verder te treiteren. Het eerste briljante idee van die mannen in dat kamertje is de handhaving van al het sloopwerk van Kunduz. Dat betekent verhoging van de BTW, de loonbelasting, de verzekeringsbelasting, de kolenbelasting, de frisdrankenbelasting, de leidingwaterbelasting, de alcoholaccijnzen, de tabaksaccijnzen, de energiebelasting, en last but not least een enorme verhoging van het eigen risico in de zorg. Dat allemaal onder het VVD-motto: ‘werkend Nederland verdient belastingverlaging’. Niemand die de VVD nu nog vertrouwt. Maar dit was alleen nog maar het begin. Het voorprogramma. De hoofdact kregen we maandag. En kijk eens aan: ze hebben nog een hele nieuwe serie nieuwe maatregelen verzonnen in hun frontale aanval op de middenklasse. Want dat is het: Als ik het regeerakkoord in één woord mag definiëren: een frontale aanval op de middenklasse. We krijgen de huurbelasting. Huren gaan structureel met tien procent omhoog, rekent het CPB uit. De hypotheekrenteaftrek wordt beperkt. Ook voor bestaande gevallen, ondanks de beloften van de VVD. Het kabinet voert de grootste nivelleringsoperatie ooit door. De hypotheekrenteaftrek, zorgpremie, het eigen risico, de huurstijging. De heer Rutte schiet totaal door en steekt Den Uyl naar de kroon. Dit is een kabinet waar de bijstandstrekkers de vingers bij aflikken. De zorg wordt met een inkomensafhankelijke premie bijna helemaal gratis voor de bijstandstrekkers, terwijl het peperduur wordt voor heel veel hardwerkende Nederlanders. Dat is onacceptabel! Wat ook onbegrijpelijk is, is dat dit kabinet meteen buigt voor Brussel en de Hedwigepolder onder water zet; opnieuw een teken van onderdanigheid aan de EU. We zullen er ons met hand en tand tegen verzetten. Er komt een kinderpardon. De naam is misleidend. Het zijn de ouders, die ondanks afgewezen asielaanvragen toch met hun kinderen in Nederland bleven, die beloond worden ondanks hun leugens met een verblijfsvergunning. Dit is gewoon het zoveelste generaal pardon van het zoveelste slappe kabinet. Deze pardonregeling zorgt er voor dat geen enkele afgewezen vreemdeling meer naar het land van herkomst terugkeert. Waarom zou je dat doen? Neem een kind, laat het hier opgroeien, ga in de illegaliteit en je kan een verblijfsvergunning krijgen. Leuk voor de zieligheidsindustrie en de islamknuffelaars, maar de Nederlandse burger mag het gaan betalen. ‘Bruggen slaan’ luidt het motto. Dat snap ik en ik weet wel wie er via die bruggen zich hier in Nederland komen melden voor een uitkering. De schade voor een Nederlands gezin is groot. Een gezin met twee werkende ouders en drie kinderen op school wordt zwaar getroffen door Rutte2. De studiefinanciering weg, de schoolboeken niet meer gratis, OV-jaarkaart weg, BTW omhoog, accijnzen omhoog, de hypotheekrente er aan, verzekeringen fors duurder, aftrek pensioenpremie beperkt, kinderbijslag versoberd, kinderopvang duurder, langer wachten op de AOW, partnertoeslag weg. En als je de pech hebt om als hardwerkende Nederlander werkloos te worden, dan krijg je een WW van slechts een jaar, daarna een jaar gekoppeld aan het minimum loon – daarna mag je in de bijstand en je huis verkopen. Er wordt 5 miljard bezuinigd op zieken en bejaarden. Verblijf in het verzorgingshuis wordt voor belangrijke groepen geschrapt, o.a. voor onder meer dementerenden die veel hulp nodig hebben bij de dagelijkse verzorging zoals wassen, aankleden, in en uit bed gaan, toiletgang. Dit is een beschaafde samenleving onwaardig. 90% van het budget van de huishoudelijke hulp wordt geschrapt! De dagbesteding geschrapt! Het recht op zorg geschrapt! 60.000 minder handen aan het bed! Vz, het werd de Partij voor de Vrijheid ingewreven dat wij zouden zijn weggelopen uit het Catshuis. We hebben het de hele verkiezingscampagne moeten horen. Vandaag moeten we vaststellen dat het niet de PVV was die vertrok. De complete VVD is weggelopen. Weg van alle stoere praatjes van voor de verkiezingen. Weg van alle garanties over de hypotheekrente-aftrek. Weg van alle vrome geluiden over de middenklasse. Weg van alle peperdure billboards die riepen‘werkend Nederland verdient belastingverlaging’.Weg van alle eurosceptische geluiden. Weg van de harde geluiden over de massa-immigratie. Weg van alle liberale principes. Rennen. Rennen, dat is wat ze doen bij de VVD. In de armen van de socialisten, de geur van pluche in de neusgaten, richting de linkse lente, naar het land van EU-heilstaat, naar de eeuwige jachtvelden van de gelijke kansen en gelijke inkomens. Iedereen hetzelfde, zegt de VVD nu, iedereen hetzelfde inkomen, iedereen gelijk. De overwinning van het socialisme is compleet. Het lijkt alsof Marx gewonnen heeft. De middenklasse wordt gesloopt. En daar zitten ze, de VVD, die daarvoor verantwoordelijk is. Vz, Mark Rutte herinnerde zich ooit in een debat Joop den Uyl. Die stond met dat priemende vingertje en zei:“dat tweede kabinet Den Uyl dat komt er toch.”Vz, Joop den Uyl, hij leeft niet meer maar hij zou tevreden zijn. Spreiding van inkomen is in goede handen bij Mark Rutte. Vz, dit is niet het tweede kabinet Rutte. Dit is het tweede kabinet Den Uyl. Vz, mag ik tenslotte nog even reclame maken voor een website. Het is er een van de VVD, dus ik preek heus niet voor eigen parochie. Ik roep iedereen op – hier in de zaal en ook de mensen die thuis kijken – naar die website te gaan. Het is redjehypotheek.nl en is nog steeds in de lucht. Er staat tot de dag van vandaag met koeienletters op: Bij wie is de hypotheekrente-aftrek veilig? Het antwoord luidt: bij de VVD. Dat blijkt een grote leugen te zijn. Vz, dit is een kabinet van de verkeerde keuzes, een kabinet zonder ambities. Het kan anders. Dat bewees ons verkiezingsprogramma. Dat leverde groei op, banen, minder werklozen, een begrotingstekort in 2017 dat lager is dan dat van het nieuwe kabinet, en koopkrachtplaatjes die er –behalve voor uitkeringsgerechtigden – veel beter uitzien dan de vijf jaar krimp en ellende die dit aankomende kabinet presenteert. Het is een destructief kabinet met heel veel verkeerde plannen. En al die plannen zullen wij met 15 mannen en vrouwen met veel verve, kracht en passie bestrijden.

VVD-kiezers woedend over nivellerend Regeerakkoord

 

Tja, beste VVD-stemmers, jullie moesten toch zo nodig strategisch stemmen om die vreselijke Wilders buiten de macht te houden?

 

Waar had Geert ook alweer voor gewaarschuwd? Iets van: "Een stem op de VVD is een stem op de PvdA", toch?  Kijk eens aan, hij had alwéér gelijk.

 

En, hoe voelen jullie je nu? Beetje belazerd, zeker? Tja, jullie hadden het kunnen weten. Denk aan de vorige verkiezingen, en die malle windmolens die volgens Rutte alleen op subsidie draaiden. Die uitspraak belette hem niet om er vervolgens ondanks de tegenstand onder de bevolking het grootste windmolenpark van Nederland door te drukken. O ja, nog zo'n verkiezingsbelofte van ons lachebekje: geen cént meer naar Griekenland. Nou, we weten allemaal hoeveel miljarden centen er vervolgens op de Griekse bankrekeningen zijn gestort, en bovendien al zijn klaargelegd voor de volgende storting(en). Eens een windvaan, altijd een windvaan.

 

Bezuinigen betekent voor ALLE gevestigde partijen helaas niets anders dan de bevolking verder uitzuigen ten bate van hun eigen politieke hobby's en doelstellingen. In eigen vlees snijden is iets wat ten koste van alles vermeden moet worden. In plaats daarvan mag het Nederlandse volk weer eens de broekriem aanhalen en worden we gedwongen lijdzaam toe te staan dat onze bevolking zienderogen verarmt, terwijl de politieke elite doorgaat ons belastinggeld met emmers tegelijk over de balk te gooien. Naar de Grieken, naar de EUSSR, naar het ESM, naar Kunduz, naar de JSF, naar de "kwetsbare gezinnen" in de Schilderswijk, naar meer immigranten, naar maatregelen tegen een natuurlijk fenomeen als klimaatverandering, naar pensioenen voor terroristen in Gaza en ga zo maar door. En wij maar inleveren.

 

Om hier iets tegen te doen was het noodzakelijk om weer baas in eigen land te worden. Weg met de EU, weg met de euro. Er was maar een partij die dat in haar programma had staan. Maar ja, Wilders, hè, daar stemt een fatsoenlijk mens niet op...

 

Nou, dit is dus het resultaat. Veel plezier met weer een pimpelpaarse regering. We zullen zien wie er beter aan toe is als deze regering het veld ruimt: ons land, onze burgers, of al die personen en instanties die blijkbaar meer recht op ons belastinggeld hebben dan wij zelf.

 

Hieronder een bumpersticker uit de verkiezingen in de VS, waar ze hun eigen nivelleerder ("I think spreading the wealth is good for everybody") uit het Witte Huis proberen te schoppen. 

Zoals het er nu uitziet hebben kiezers in de VS meer kans om met hun stem iets te bereiken dan kiezers in Nederland.

In Their Own Words: Obama's Effect on Military Families

President Obama seems to have a disregard for those defending America. Recently, on Jon Stewart's The Daily Show, he commented on the death of three Americans and Ambassador Chris Stevens: "... it's not optimal." The mother of Sean Smith, a Foreign Service officer and one of the three killed, reportedly responded to the president: "My son is not very optimal. He is also very dead. It was a disrespectful thing to say[.]"

That is how many families feel about the president's attitude toward those who have died serving their country. Billy and Karen Vaughn spoke with American Thinker about their deceased Navy SEAL Team Six son, Aaron, and their views on this administration's rules of engagement policies.

Aaron Vaughn was one of thirty U.S. service members, including 22 members of SEAL Team Six, killed when the helicopter they were traveling in was downed on August 5, 2011, in Afghanistan. This was the largest loss of life in the history of naval special warfare. At the time of his death, Aaron left behind a two-year-old son, a two-month-old daughter, his wife, and his parents. He became a SEAL in 2004 and joined SEAL Team Six in 2010. He was one of the few SEALs to get his name on the "First Time Every Time Wall," an honor for those SEALs who passed every test on their first try.

Why Our Forces Were Told to ‘Stand Down’ in Benghazi

To understand what went wrong in the Benghazi mission, it’s important to begin by looking at what was so unique about it.
 
When the Islamist mobs began their September 11 rampage, they found embassies with high walls, heavy security and police protection. Even in Tunis and Cairo, where the Arab Spring Islamist regimes have been accused of collaborating with their fellow Salafists, there were credible military and police forces capable of preventing the kind of full scale assault that took place in Benghazi.

The mission in Benghazi, however, was an American diplomatic facility with few defenses in a city where the police were virtually helpless against the Islamist militias and where the national government had announced that it would allow the Salafists to destroy Sufi tombs rather than intervene.

On September 1, I wrote that the real implication of these remarks was that the Libyan government had given the Islamists a free hand and would take no action no matter what they did. And bloodshed was sure to follow. Ten days later it did.
