What will history make so far of our five-year voyage with Barack Obama? What will it make of hope and change — other than a sort of hysteria of 2008 that was a political version of the Pet Rock or the Cabbage Patch Doll derangement? Did we really experience faux-Greek columns and Latin mottoes (vero possumus) as Obama props to usher in the new order of the ages?

What exactly made David Brooks focus on trouser creases, or Chris Matthews on involuntary leg tickles? How could any serious person believe a candidate who promised to change the very terrain of the planet? Why would sober critics declare a near rookie senator “a god”?

Only as America slowly sobers up from five years of slumber can we begin to fathom Obama’s likely legacy — which is mostly wisdom acquired only from pain.

Liberals always had thought a right-wing bully president would erode civil liberties. How ironic that a charismatic, post-racial, self-described “constitutional law professor” has done more damage to our Constitution than has any president since Richard Nixon. Had the AP, IRS, or NSA scandals occurred during the Bush second term, congressional Democrats would have been calling for impeachment.

The old controversial presidential signing statements of the past are mere misdemeanors compared to Obama felonies of declaring settled law null and void, from the employer mandate to the implementation guidelines of Obamacare to exempting pet businesses and congressional staffs from the requirements of the law. A president can now decide not to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, or grant pre-election, de facto amnesties. Why, then, pass laws in the first place? The idea of political opponents being audited by the IRS or critical journalists having their phones monitored will be Obama’s Nixonian legacy. After Obama, one of two things will happen: either the presidency will be redefined as a sort of super-executive that can both make and enforce statutes, or a constitutional reaction will set in, and Obamism will be cited as a danger to the republic that we wish in the future never to repeat.

My friend is an intelligent person who has seen politics up close. And yet, such is the power of mass indoctrination, she doesn't know that Iran isn't a normal nation.

Four decades after Jimmy Carter's Iranian Hostage Crisis, which crashed his presidency and brought Ronald Reagan into office, our media have failed completely and utterly to tell the plain truth about the genocidal regime in Tehran.

When we complain about the blindness of our friends and family, we really need to point at the source: the leftist monopoly over our Organs of Propaganda. There is no genuine debate in American media. Nothing honest or worth learning. As in Europe, our Big Corporate Media peddle 24/7 leftist agit-prop. If you want to see Crony Socialism at work, simply look at NBC and its Fat Cat owners, GE/Comcast. You can be sure they benefit financially from their alliance with the Left.

This tendency reaches its nadir when the media sell our people on a purposely genocidal foreign policy. They don't use those words, of course. But that's the unmistakable goal.

SF Protesters to Obama: Please be a Dictator!

When Obama’s motorcade rocketed around San Francisco on Monday, very few locals even noticed his presence, and fewer still cared. The crowds awaiting him at each fundraiser were the by far smallest I’d seen in over five years of covering his visits here. Ticket sales to at least one of the events were so sluggish that prices had to be lowered to fill the empty seats. Out in the street, rubberneckers and protesters had dwindled to the bare minimum. This is what happens when a hero disappoints: you don’t turn on him in anger, but rather just tune him out and move on to other interests.

But even with the small turnout, there was a theme amongst Obama’s protesters/supporters (supportesters?): They didn’t want him to change his political agenda — instead, they demanded that he assume dictatorial powers so that he could finally implement the radical plans with which they already agree. The message of the day was: Stop dilly-dallying around, Mr. President: Ignore the Constitution and just make The Revolution happen, as you promised!

That message would be disturbing enough all on its own, but it becomes much more disturbing when you suspect (as I do) that many of these pro-totalitarian protesters were astroturfed. In other words: Is the White House scripting/encouraging/guiding protesters on the left to beg him to become a dictator? So that later, he can explain, “I had no choice — the people demanded it!” Or is Obama simply telegraphing to his supporters to not be so disappointed when he throws in the towel and his second term turns out to be a flop?

Let’s see what happened on Monday, and judge for yourself.

De moskee is een religieus machtssymbool en een voorbode van islamitische wetgeving, ook wel de Sharia genoemd. Vanuit veel moskeeën wordt de jihad, de gewapende strijd tegen ongelovigen, gepredikt. Helaas groeit het aantal van deze bolwerken snel en staat de teller inmiddels op 453. Momenteel wordt er in Utrecht zelfs gebouwd aan een monstermoskee met 44 meter hoge minaretten!

Hier is een tip om de dag van de bureaucraten in Brussel te verzieken: noem de Europese verkiezingen van volgend jaar en ze worden nerveus en geagiteerd. Schuimbekkend zullen ze waarschuwen voor het opkomende populisme, een bedreiging voor de democratie. De Europese verkiezingen van volgend jaar mei, waarin bijna 400 miljoen mensen uit de 28 EU lidstaten mogen stemmen, monden naar alle waarschijnlijkheid uit in een aardverschuiving tegen de Eurocraten. Wat zal gebeuren is echter geen opkomst van het populisme, maar een overwinning voor de democratie.

 

Decennia lang heeft Brussel ongestoord zijn gang kunnen gaan. Dat tijdperk is nu over.

 

Eindelijk beseffen mensen dat de zogenaamde eurofielen er slechts op uit zijn om de Europese natiestaten, de huizen van onze nationale democratie, te verwoesten. En mensen zijn niet van plan dit te laten gebeuren. Ze trappen niet langer in de leugen dat patriotisme gevaarlijk is, dat het een ondeugd is en geen deugd. Ze zijn opnieuw trots op hun natie en trots op hun identiteit.

 

Nieuw patriotisme

 

Robert Schuman, één van de grondleggers van de Europese Unie 60 jaar geleden, zei altijd dat het doel van Europese integratie was om 'oorlog niet alleen ondenkbaar, maar ook materieel onmogelijk te maken.' Maar het idee dat Duitsland, Frankrijk, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en andere landen in het verleden ten oorlog trokken omdat zij soevereine naties waren is gewoonweg belachelijk. Zij voerden oorlog omdat ze ten prooi waren gevallen van totalitaire ideologieën. Democratieën voeren geen oorlog met elkaar, maar drijven handel met elkaar.

 

Schuman en zijn volgelingen, die ook nu nog steeds proberen om de Europese natiestaten af te schaffen en te vervangen door een federale Europese superstaat, zijn politici uit het verleden. De Europese Unie vertegenwoordigt de oude politiek. Vandaag de dag is er een nieuwe generatie van kiezers en politici opgestaan. Ik ben daar één van. Mijn held is niet Robert Schuman, maar de Amerikaanse visionair Ronald Reagan, die in zijn afscheidsrede pleitte voor herleving van nationale trots en wat hij 'het nieuwe patriotisme' noemde. Of, zoals Reagan het bedoelde 'liefde voor het land en waardering voor zijn instellingen.'

 

Eurocrisis als katalysator

 

De afgelopen vijf jaar heeft de eurocrisis gefunctioneerd als een katalysator. Europese burgers, van Finland tot Portugal en van Ierland tot Griekenland, hebben gemerkt dat Brussel niet in staat is de economische crisis op te lossen. De opgelegde bezuinigingsmaatregelen hebben er alleen maar voor gezorgd dat de belastingen omhoog gingen en de crisis verergerde.

 

Het is niet de Europese Unie die ons vrede heeft gebracht, maar de NAVO. De EU bracht ons geen economische welvaart; dat deed de vrijhandel. Zwitserland is de meest concurrerende economie ter wereld en Noorwegen het meest welvarende land. Geen van hen is lid van de Europese Unie. Beide behoren tot de Europese Vrijhandelsassociatie (EVA).

 

De Europese Unie heeft de Europeanen niet meer democratie en vrijheid gebracht. Integendeel; de EU is een gevangenis voor natiestaten. Het ondermijnt onze nationale democratieën. De EU lijkt op een EUSSR.

 

Vernietiging van democratie in Europa

 

In 2005 verwierpen de Nederlandse en de Franse kiezers bij referendum de Europese Grondwet, die tot doel had de EU om te vormen tot een echte staat. Maar Brussel weigerde zich neer te leggen bij een 'nee'. Ondanks de weerstand ging het gewoon verder met zijn plannen voor een grondwettelijk verdrag. Want Brussel denkt het beter te weten dan de mensen thuis. Maar volgend jaar mei zal het zich realiseren dat de mensen het bedrog niet vergeten zijn.

 

Dit heeft niets te maken met populisme, maar alles met democratie. Democratie op supranationaal niveau is gewoonweg onmogelijk. Er kan alleen sprake zijn van democratie als er sprake is van een natie. We kunnen de EU niet vergelijken met de Verenigde Staten. Amerika is een natie, Europa is dat niet. Europa is een continent met vele verschillende naties met elk hun eigen identiteit, tradities en talen. Hen beroven van hun nationale democratie creëert geen Europese democratie, maar vernietigt de democratie in Europa.

 

Al maandenlang staat de Partij voor de Vrijheid aan kop in de Nederlandse peilingen. Wij zijn een jonge partij. Wij willen dat Nederland de EU verlaat, lid wordt van EVA en net als Zwitserland vrijhandelsverdragen sluit met de Europese Unie en de rest van de wereld. Wij gaan de Europese verkiezingen volgend jaar mei winnen.

 

Geen extremisten maar democraten

 

Ook in andere landen is de Europese Unie nog nooit zo impopulair geweest als nu. Het vertrouwen in de EU is gedaald tot het laagste niveau ooit. Uit eigen opiniepeilingen van de EU blijkt dat zes op de 10 Europeanen ertoe neigt geen vertrouwen te hebben in de EU. Zij zullen dit met hun stem laten blijken. De oude orde van de zelfgenoegzame elite in Brussel brokkelt af.

 

In het Verenigd Koninkrijk pleit de United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) voor het verlaten van de EU. In de peilingen halen zij bijna 20 procent van de stemmen. In Frankrijk wil het Front National, onder leiding van haar nieuwe leider Marine Le Pen, soevereiniteit terughalen van Brussel naar Parijs. Het Front National is op zijn beurt uitgegroeid tot de meest populaire partij in de peilingen.

 

Europa staat aan de vooravond van een glorieuze revolutie – geweldloos en democratisch. Volgend jaar mei zullen kiezers in heel Europa zich verzetten in het stemhokje. Zij zullen het supranationale experiment van de Europese Unie afwijzen. Zij zullen kiezen voor herstel van nationale soevereiniteit.

 

Deze mensen zijn geen extremisten, maar democraten.

Iemand een hakenkruis bij de koffie?

Wie dacht dat het na de hysterie over onze"racistische" Zwarte Piet niet meer gekker kon worden, moet even in Zweden gaan kijken. Nadat de Zweedse krant Svenska Dagbladet daar op zondag een recept voor traditionele Finse poinsettia-koekjes had gepubliceerd, kwamen de linkse intellectuelen op de proppen met beschuldigingen van nazisme, omdat ze vonden dat de koekjes op hakenkruisen lijken.

Nadat SVT (de Zweedse staatsomroep) de aandacht op het recept had gevestigd met een bericht getiteld “A swastika with your coffee, anyone?”, kwamen er veel en felle reacties. De traditionele Finse koekjes worden al honderd, zo niet honderdén jaren rond de Kerst in vrijwel alle Finse huishoudens gebakken en zijn er nog nooit in verband gebracht met hakenkruisen.

“In Finland eating poinsettias it is an old Christmas tradition. If you want to be a geeky journalist, go ahead and turn it into a swastika. Talk about seeing ghosts in broad daylight or making a sensation out of nothing,” writes Denise Lindell from Finland.

De geamuseerde Finnen hebben inmiddels een video gemaakt die op de Finse tv is verschenen, waarin ze laten zien hoe je een politiek correcte versie kunt maken van de julstjärnekakor, en waarin ze tegelijk hun buren een beetje de gek aansteken.

Sudden modesty from the selfhyperadulated president.

Seven score and 10 years ago, Abraham Lincoln delivered his sacred speech on the meaning of free government. Edward Everett, a former secretary of state and the principal speaker for the consecration of the Gettysburg cemetery, instantly recognized the power of the president's 272 words.

 

"I should be glad, if I could flatter myself," Everett wrote to Lincoln the next day, "that I came as near to the central idea of the occasion, in two hours, as you did in two minutes."

 

Barack Obama is not scheduled to be present at Gettysburg on Tuesday to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the address. Maybe he figured that the world would little note, nor long remember, what he said there. Maybe he thought the comparisons with the original were bound to be invidious, and rightly so.

 

If that's the case, it would be the beginning of wisdom for this presidency. Better late than never.

Obamacare Schadenfreudarama

It feels pretty good to watch the whole thing fail.

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, you’d have to have a heart of stone not to laugh at the unraveling of Obamacare.

First, the obligatory caveats. It is no laughing matter that millions of Americans’ lives have been thrown into anxious chaos as they lose their health insurance, their doctors, their money, or all three. Nor is it particularly amusing to think of the incredible waste of time and tax dollars that has gone into Obamacare’s construction. And the still-unfolding violence that this misbegotten legislation will visit on the economy and our liberties is not funny either. This very magazine has been downright funereal about the brazen and unconstitutional seizure of one-sixth of the economy, and rightly so.

But come on, people.

If you can’t take some joy, some modicum of relief and mirth, in the unprecedentedly spectacular beclowning of the president, his administration, its enablers, and, to no small degree, liberalism itself, then you need to ask yourself why you’re following politics in the first place. Because, frankly, this has been one of the most enjoyable political moments of my lifetime. I wake up in the morning and rush to find my just-delivered newspaper with a joyful expectation of worsening news so intense, I feel like Morgan Freeman should be narrating my trek to the front lawn. Indeed, not since Dan Rather handcuffed himself to a fraudulent typewriter, hurled it into the abyss, and saw his career plummet like Ted Kennedy was behind the wheel have I enjoyed a story more.

Alas, the English language is not well equipped to capture the sensation I’m describing, which is why we must all thank the Germans for giving us the term “schadenfreude” — the joy one feels at the misfortune or failure of others. The primary wellspring of schadenfreude can be attributed to Barack Obama’s hubris — another immigrant word, which means a sinful pride or arrogance that causes someone to believe he has a godlike immunity to the rules of life.

The hubris of our ocean-commanding commander-in-chief surely isn’t news to readers of this website. He’s said that he’s smarter and better than everyone who works for him. His wife informed us that he has “brought us out of the dark and into the light” and that he would fix our broken souls. The man defined sin itself as “being out of alignment with my values.” We may be the ones we’ve been waiting for, but at the same time, everyone has been waiting for him. Or as he put it in 2007, “Every place is Barack Obama country once Barack Obama’s been there.”

There are two major political parties in America. I’m a member of the naïve, stupid, and cowardly one. I’m a Republican.

How stupid is the GOP? They still don’t get it.

I told them 5 years ago, 2 books ago, a national bestseller ago ("The Ultimate Obama Survival Guide"), and in hundreds of articles and commentaries, that ObamaCare was never meant to help America, or heal the sick, or lower healthcare costs, or lower the debt, or expand the economy.
The GOP needs to stop calling ObamaCare a “trainwreck.” That means it’s a mistake, or accident. That means it’s a gigantic flop, or failure. It’s NOT.

This is a brilliant, cynical, and purposeful attempt to damage the U.S. economy, kill jobs, and bring down capitalism.

It’s not a failure, it’s Obama’s grand success.

It’s not a “trainwreck,” ObamaCare is a suicide attack. He wants to hurt us, to bring us to our knees, to capitulate- so we agree under duress to accept big government

In onze radiovolksuniversiteitscursus ‘populaire dwalingen omtrent de islam’ vanochtend een aflevering over het begrip ‘woestijngodsdienst’. De islam is geen woestijngodsdienst. De stichter van de beweging die wij de islam zijn gaan noemen, Mohammed, is een stedeling afkomstig uit Mekka. In die stad groeit hij op en tegen het jaar 612 presenteert hij zich daar als profeet. Tien jaar later, in 622, vertrekt hij naar Medina, een woord dat in het Arabisch ‘stad’ betekent. Vanuit Medina is hij tien jaar lang actief als krijgsheer. In 632 overlijdt hij. Voor een krijgsheer valt er aan een woestijn weinig eer te behalen. Nu en dan een karavaan overvallen zoals de moslims vanuit Medina plachten te doen, is strategisch nuttig want het levert respect op bij de stadsbewoners die op die karavaan zaten te wachten, maar het zet materieel, qua buit, weinig zoden aan de dijk. Te eenmalig. Na de dood van Mohammed richtten de islamitische legers zich op de wereld buiten het Arabische schiereiland. Ze veroverden en stichtten daar steden. Damascus, Jeruzalem, Antiochië, Alexandrië, Koefa, Basra, Bagdad, Cairo, Qayrouan, Cordoba, Constantinopel. Die steden en hun bewoners waren een bron van rijkdom voor hun moslimse meesters. De overwonnen inwoners van die steden konden geplunderd worden, als slaaf worden verkocht, of, beter nog, worden uitgezogen als belastingslaaf (Arabisch: dhimmie).

De Arabische krijgslieden die een stad op het West- of Oost-Romeinse rijk veroverden, keken hun ogen uit bij het zien van de vele voorbeelden van vernuft die ze in zo’n stad aantroffen. Er werden muziekinstrumenten gebouwd! Er waren boeken. Rechtbanken. Er werd sterke drank gedistilleerd. Stof en leer geverfd. Parfum. Slotenmakers! Landmeters! Architecten! Scheepsbouwers! Chirurgijnen, paardendokters en apothekers! Wiskunde! Het was duidelijk dat die Grieks-Romeinse beschaving langs de Middellandse zee een voorsprong had op die van de islamitische Arabische legers.

Our Public Masters

Career politicians are a recent phenomenon, and one we can well do without.

Polls indicate that the public is so disgusted with Washington politicians of both parties that a surprisingly large proportion of the people would like to get rid of the whole lot of them. It is certainly understandable that the voters would like to “throw the rascals out.” But there is no point in throwing the rascals out if we are just going to get a new set of rascals to replace them.

In other words, we need to think about what there is about current political practices that repeatedly brings to power such a counterproductive set of people. Those we call “public servants” have in fact become public masters. And they act like it.

They squander ever more vast amounts of our tax money, and still leave trillions of dollars of national debt to be paid by our children and grandchildren. They intrude into our private lives with ever more restrictions, red tape, and electronic surveillance. And they turn different groups of Americans against each other with class-warfare rhetoric and policies.

Begin met under cover in een universiteitskantine de gesprekken van de vrome jonkvrouwen daar af te luisteren. ‘Omhoog trouwen’. ‘Omlaag trouwen’. ‘Omhoog trouwen’ is code voor het sluiten van een huwelijk met een jongeheer die lichter van kleur is dan zijn bruid. ‘Omlaag trouwen’ is de code voor het sluiten van een huwelijk met jongeheer die donkerder is dan zijn bruid. Hoe komen die giechelende jonkvrouwen aan dit idee? Wel, er is een aantal gezaghebbende beroepsmoslims dat van oordeel is dat partijen in een huwelijk elkaars gelijken moeten zijn, behalve dan dat de bruid per definitie altijd de mindere is van de bruidegom want bruidegommen zijn mannen en een bruid is een vrouw. Je mag als vader je dochter dus niet uithuwelijken aan een man die donkerder is, want dat verstoort de natuurlijke orde: de ondergeschikte partij, de vrouw, is dan, qua blanker, superieur aan haar man.

Nee, Bontes, de PVV wordt geen normale partij

Het Tweede Kamerlid Louis Bontes treedt vandaag in de publiciteit met kritiek over interne partijpolitiek. De demonstratie op het Malieveld zou uit het verkeerde potje betaald zijn. En hij is nu verantwoordelijk, gezien zijn bestuursfunctie, voor iets waarover hij niets te zeggen had.

 ’De PVV moet open worden, een normale politieke partij.’

Dat klinkt natuurlijk heel redelijk. Een open partij. Congressen. Bestuur dit, bestuur dat. Zo doen we dat hier, toch?
Maar we leven niet in normale omstandigheden. De PVV wil iets wat regelrecht in gaat tegen de wensen van de zittende elite. De PVV wil dat er een einde aan de massa immigratie komt. De PVV wil uit de EU. De PVV vindt de islam een verwerpelijke ideologie die aan banden gelegd moet worden.
Dat is niet zomaar een afwijkend standpunt, zoals de ChristenUnie een ander standpunt heeft over winkelen op zondag, of over euthanasie dan D66. Of zoals, zeggen ze, de PvdA op sommige punten anders zou zijn dan de VVD.
